Mumia to Speak in Philadelphia on Global Youth Against Empire 

The nation’s best known political prisoner will mark his 38th year behind bars at a “Youth Rise Up Against Empire” event, December 7thin Philadelphia. “It is not by chance that a Mumia movement is focusing on US imperialism,” said Suzanne Ross, of International Family and Friends of Mumia Abu Jamal, since he’s written a trilogy on the subject, titled “Murder Incorporate.” 

The Internationalism of Black Panther Women

The women of the Black Panther Party embraced the models established by women in Vietnam, North Korea and China, in part “to change the culture within the party,” said Benjamin Young, a professor at Dakota State University and author of an article in the political journal “Soul” titled, “Imagining Revolutionary Feminism: Communist Asia and the Women of the Black Panther Party.” “There were a lot of issues within the party when it came to the treatment of women,” said Young.

Anti-Blackness Among Hispanics

“With a few exceptions, all the presidents in Latin America are white,” notes Janvieve Williams Comrie, a pan-Africanist activist originally from Panama. “The racial dynamics are different,” said Comrie, but “the same racial structures exist” as in the rest of the hemisphere.

US Fingerprints in Bolivian Coup

“Whether under the Bush or Obama administrations, the US government saw the Bolivian government of Evo Morales as an adversary in the region,” as did the Trump administration, said Alexander Main, of the Center for Economic and Policy Research, in Washington. Main was interviewed on Counterspin by Janine Jackson, of FAIR. He aid US corporate media echo the official Trump position, that forced regime change in Bolivia was not a coup – but most of the Latin America public disagrees.
