Brazilian feminist Marielle Franco da Silva, a Rio de Janeiro city council member, a lesbian and leading critic of the Temer and Bolsonaro regimes was assassinated along with her driver after delivering a speech on March 14, 2018. Her life and work continue to evoke and inspire resistance to the soft coup and austerity in Brazil and against neoliberal rule worldwide.
