“It is up to us, the conspiracy realists, to relentlessly speak truth to both power and people,” says the author. “If we fail in this mission there will be no one left to fight for the masses whose only linkage to news and information is through the corporate Wizard of Oz.” Therefore, the sacred truth must be shared with everyone.
Stolen Land, Stolen Labor, Stolen Dreams, and the Imperative of the Truth Tellers
by Ron Kipling Williams
“What began as a conspiracy has become a longstanding criminal enterprise.”
Let us pose a hypothetical: if I stole your car and you see me with it 20 years later, is the car still yours or is it mine?
Anyone with a few seconds of sustained sobriety and intellectual thought would conclude that the car still belonged to you. Those who have a sick and twisted view of how the universe operates, however, would believe there would be a statute of limitations for theft, and the car therefore would be mine.
To take it further, there are those who believe in the Manifest Destiny principle, that it was my destiny to take your car, and therefore it was right for me to take it.
Now let us introduce the hypothetical players. The car was played by this land, I was played by America, and you were played by the Native Americans.
Over two hundred years later, this play still runs. However, this is not merely entertainment or satire. This is the reality of this nation. What began as a conspiracy has become a longstanding criminal enterprise.
Upon this stolen land came the stolen labor of the Africans, many of the descendants of whom fight to this day for reparations, the conversation quelled by racist politicians dangling by the strings of the corporatocracy, their narrative spun by the colluded corporate media who wave the red, white and blue flag and push the notion that America was founded on freedom and democracy.
A masterful plot has been executed by the ruling class to relegate those truth tellers to the fringe class, demonized in the corporate media, indoctrinating the masses to believe that we are nothing but a ragtag group of conspiracy nuts, bitter because we could not make it in mainstream society.
As I say in my poem, “After the 9/11 Conspiracy”:
To this day
people still believe America’s
goodness is inherent
content to ignore history
they would never believe
that America eats its young
So it was impossible
that the Twin Towers
was the subject of an
engineered demolition
and the seventh building
was never destroyed
to complete the cover-up
and in no way
was the Pentagon
hit by a missile
Now that the economy is on a landslide one would think that the mainstream middle class masses would awaken from their slumber to comprehend that the illusion of a structured class is eroding away, and that as they hang off the cliff of polite society, their fingers are slipping, destined to fall into the abyss of economic irrelevancy.
Below them are the huddled masses, now labeled as the “new poor,” ones who are doing much better than once thought because they have refrigerators, microwaves, cell phones, and cable TV. That will keep the middle class hanging on the cliff a little while longer, daring not to fall into this new spoiled class of people.
“They hang off the cliff of polite society, their fingers are slipping, destined to fall into the abyss of economic irrelevancy.”
Yet, after all that has been revealed to them, they still believe that we must protect the rich, for they trickle down our prosperity. Not even Warren Buffet, now ironically accused of perhaps being a socialist, can stem the tide.
For our indigenous brothers and sisters south of the border, still suffering 163 years after the Mexican-American War where they lost their territories, compounding insult to injury is daily practice by this racist nation which characterizes them as “illegal aliens” for crossing the border to achieve a better way of life, leaving behind a homeland they love racked by political corruption, violence, and devastation at the hands of NAFTA.
Arizona, the apex of white supremacy in this century, wants the other 49 states to follow in its footsteps, to corral “the indios” and to ensure that the majority population of America never turns brown.
Yet this nation engages in the continual practice of seizing labor and natural resources from other nations, occupying their existence, and bombing back to the Stone Age anyone who dares to resist.
I quote a passage in another of my poems, “Alien Nation”:
Now
you want to close the borders
to those who before your takeover
owned the southwest
Meanwhile
you police 150 countries worldwide
but for them
you never do what’s best
instead
you rape and privatize their
natural resources
Yet again, the corporate media has done a masterful job to convince even African Americans – the last people who should be upset at our brown brothers and sisters – that these “illegal aliens” are not only a menace, but one of the reasons our economy is at such a deficit, that they are draining this country of its resources, paying little to no taxes, and taking social services designated for citizens.
Again, a quote from “Alien Nation”:
It would seem with
two seconds of sustained sobriety
It should be clear
to those who claim to be intelligent
that the true Alien Nation
would be this system
of greedy capitalism and exploitation
It would seem
the finger should be pointed to
Wall Street and
the Federal Reserve Bank
and the IMF and World Bank
and Ronald Reagan
and all of the disciples of
Milton Friedman
who have kept us all
perpetually dehydrated
by their
trickle-down economics
As black and brown people are pitted against each other, the focus is still vacated on the culprits, the ruling class elite who have fleeced this economy via their congressional lackeys, and have created no substantial employment and benefits despite the nation’s grave situation. Yet they are as protected, revered and worshipped as the Holy Grail.
No, unlike the commercial insists, this is not Ford country. This is Native American country, reduced to agro-terrorism by corporate thugs like Monsanto, and their colleagues who devastate the landscape through mountaintop removal, fracking and other repugnant environmental practices.
Meanwhile the overseer of our red brothers and sisters, the Bureau of Indian Affairs in collusion with corporate interests, ensure they are pacified via casinos and oppressed via state controlled law enforcement, and thwarting their ability to sustain themselves via agriculture and manufacturing – with the result being reservations suffering from chronic pneumonia while the rest of America has a persistent cold.
“Corporate thugs like Monsanto, and their colleagues devastate the landscape through mountaintop removal, fracking and other repugnant environmental practices.”
In this nation of stolen land, stolen labor, and stolen dreams under the imperialist dome of Manifest Destiny it is up to us, the conspiracy realists, to relentlessly speak truth to both power and people. If we fail in this mission there will be no one left to fight for the masses whose only linkage to news and information is through the corporate Wizard of Oz.
Even with their current disenchantment they see now way out, no way through and no way past the crumbling of the 21st century Roman Empire called America. Many feel that their only hope is to work harder, protect their families the best way they can, and to hang on for dear life.
They are instructed, and in turn believe to be grateful for the protections “given” by this nation, civil and human rights that no individual or state had the right to take away in the first place.
Another hypothetical: If you have a cookie jar, and I take a cookie from your jar, and later on replace what I took, you would be thankful that I did, but you wouldn’t be grateful, because I only gave back what I took. However, if I added a cookie to your jar, then you may be grateful, because I gave you what you never had.
America has been stealing cars and replacing taken cookies since the Mayflower arrived, and it is time that we set the record straight.
