The underground radicals of the 1960s and 70s were prescient in their political analysis, according to Stephen Dillon, author of Fugitive Life: The Queer Politics of the Prison State. “They knew that deindustrialization was coming; they knew that dismantling of the welfare state was coming; they knew that an unprecedented regime of racialized capture was coming in the form of mass incarceration.”
