Black Agenda Radio · NYPD Illegal Searches Target Communities of Color

Samah Sisay is a staff attorney at the Center for Constitutional Rights. She is counsel to Floyd v. City of New York, the federal class action lawsuit brought by CCR which challenged the NYPD’s practice of racial profiling and the unconstitutional stop and frisks of New York residents.
On June 5, a court appointed monitor reported that the latest iteration of street crime units, called Neighborhood Safety Teams, are making illegal stops and almost exclusively of Black and Latino persons. She joins us from New York to discuss the report.
