Estranged Careerists of the Corporate Black Cash-hounds (CBC)

by BAR poet-in-residence Raymond Nat Turner

Once, they shouted, “Say it loud, I’m Black and I’m proud!”
Now, their actions say it loud, “We’re in the Cayman Crowd…”

Our air’s polluted, our water’s fracked,
Schools shuttered and homes jacked
As the Jesse Jr. and Unca Jim ilk
Spin pain into Rolex, and silk…
Hearts transplanted with tweezers
For cold cash stashed in freezers—

Obscene sums, mega amounts…
Stuffing Swiss Bank Accounts!

Their lame posturing, tame gyrations
Strings pulled by the corporations
Struggle was “off the table” long ago—
Capitalist Hill is their IndieGoGo…
They huff and puff ‘bout fluffy stuff,
When warmongering’s not enough…
