Letters from Our Readers

This week readers discussed the Bloomberg campaign. We share your letters for “Bloomberg Wants to Swallow the Democrats and Spit Out the Sandernistas” and “Freedom Rider: Bloomberg is Worse Than Trump.”

In “Bloomberg Wants to Swallow the Democrats and Spit Out the Sandernistas” Glen Ford outlines the billionaire’s plans to stop the Sanders movement.

Trisha Driscoll writes:

“The flip side of that duopoly coin is to force working class whites to vote for Trump out of a kettle full of boiling fears. The sudden appearance of Bloomberg is clearly an attempt to splinter delegates and thus deny Sanders a first round vote majority at the Democratic convention, allowing super-delegates to step in and make the call on round two.  If it's not Bernie, look out.

“What will all those Democrat voters infuriated when the nomination is again stolen do?  Will existing third parties be prepared to offer shelter to and mobilize these voters? Will there be any direct action, or will folks just roll over again?

“If the nomination goes to Bernie, and he wins the Presidency, the duopoly can still safely count on Congressional incumbents (90% of whom get re-elected despite an approval rating hovering around 20%!) maintaining a death grip on the status quo regardless of whom occupies the White House.”

Harold Dyck writes:

“Or, he wants to turn the Democratic Party into the pre-Trump Republican Party, leaving voters a choice between far right and extreme right.”

Brian O’Neill writes:

“Well researched, and laid out analysis. I can’t speak for all Sanders supporters, but I for one am Bernie or vest (as in French style yellow vest). If they make the revolution impossible at the ballot box, and through Democratic pressure on our representatives, I will protest in the streets.”

“Freedom Rider: Bloomberg is Worse Than Trump” by Margaret Kimberley points out the ways in which the Democratic hopeful is a greater evil than the current president.

Callman Chico writes:

“I may be totally fooled here and Bloomberg might be just mouthing it to sell more services to China. However, interestingly, he does seem to have an educated and nuanced understanding of China and Xi's leadership. I'm in Oregon and guess I'll hold my nose and vote for Bernie in May, wish Ilhan would run.”

Robert Haywood writes:

“Didn't know that bit of NY history. But I've felt from the beginning that he will be worse than Trump. Trump is a moron who talks his trash. Bloomberg is the man who actually implemented the policies Trump wishes he had thought of. In this anyone but Trump climate, Bloomberg can not be the Democratic nominee.”

The ruling elite seem to think that the masses can be easily duped. Our job is to unravel the truth behind the billionaire’s propaganda.
