Letters from Our Readers

This week the U.S. state’s propaganda and the Black elite were on your minds. We share your letters for “New Cold War is Built on Humanitarian Interventionist Lies and Dismissal of Actual War Crimes” and “US Black Elite Tied to Capitalism, Not Black Liberation.”

In “New Cold War is Built on Humanitarian Interventionist Lies and Dismissal of Actual War Crimes” Danny Haiphong argues that the U.S. is fabricating allegations of crimes by its enemies in order to win consent for the American state’s aggressions on the world.

Wanbli Mayasleca writes:

“Hau mitakuyepi, greetings my relatives! Pilamayaya pelo, from Oceti Sakowin Makoce, the Land of the Seven Council Fires (Dakota, Nakota, Lakota, Nations), I thank you all for your critical analysis of the existential dangers that we all face.

“Speaking as a 66 year old Lakota male who has survived nearly seven decades of genocide, at the hands of this settler state, I wish to say that the genocide of Original Peoples has been effectually invisibilized through the legalization and normalization of said genocide.

“So reading and hearing all the accusations about China's ‘genocide of the Uyghur People’ (from the bandwagon of genocider/settler/colonial states and a host of bad actors) it's practically triggering my complex PTSD lately.

“I've studied the Rome convention on the crime of genocide which defines genocide as the destruction, in whole or in part, of any people, group, or ethnicity. So, they haven't finished us off yet but they're trying their worst. I'd say, according to the law, that slavery was just such a genocide as well.

“Real acknowledgement of this country's invisibilized crime against humanity is probably too dangerous for anyone in the media to undertake so I'm not faulting you for that –but it made me wonder. Hau mitakuye owasin! All my Relations!”

“US Black Elite Tied to Capitalism, Not Black Liberation” by Kandista Mallett argues that abolition of capitalism is central to Black liberation.

Wallace Nixon writes:

“The cream of the crop in Black America have been encouraged, cajoled and bribed to collaborate with the system and give the Black masses false hopes of having a better life in the empire. Individuals like Harry Belafonte are the extremely rare exception to this rule. The well to do Black will not risk the good life they enjoy and many times join the chorus of those who blame the victims rather than condemn the deliberate negligence of the government. Look at how many of Dr. King´s colleagues and fellow civil rights advocates were angry with him for taking a truly Christian position on poverty at home and aggressive wars abroad. In fact, many of the fortunate Black Americans have no interest or relationship to those at the bottom. How many of the dozens of Black members of the NAACP board of directors even know any poor members of their ethnic group? The ten percent of high achievers whom W.E.B. Du Bois hoped would lead us to a brighter day have decided to throw in their fate with those who control the status quo. Their philosophy is simply to go with the winner.”

The struggle against the ruling elite and their agents continues. The key point of this struggle is to educate the masses with correct ideas.
