Black Agenda Radio · Fair Access to Victim Compensation in New York

New York Governor Kathy Hochul recently signed the Fair Access to Victim Compensation Act, which will improve access to State victim compensation funding for Black, Brown, immigrant, and LGBTQIA+ New Yorkers. Common Justice launched a state-wide campaign to make New York State’s victim compensation laws and policies more equitable by removing barriers victims and survivors face. Kira Shepherd, Common Justice Vice President of Organizing and Policy, and Tanvier Peart, Common Justice Director of Policy, join us from New York to explain the importance of this legislation.
