“African feminism searches for solutions “that are not rooted in colonial structures,” said Dr Alicia Decker, of Penn State University, co-director of the African Feminist Initiative. “Muslim women are not open to joining the western feminist discourse, according to Dr Maha Marouan, “because they feel there is no attempt to include their experiences.”
