President Joe Biden is proposing $30 billion in new funding to states and localities to hire more police. He and other democrats make clear they want to silence the demand for defunding the police. Dr. Charisse Burden Stelly, Assistant Professor of Africana Studies and Political Science at Carleton College and Co-Coordinator of the Black Alliance for Peace Research & Political Education Team, explains.

Aly Wane is a policy consultant with the UndocuBlack Network, which advocates on behalf of the undocumented from the African diaspora. Undocumented Black people are rarely part of discussions about immigration. In addition to the challenges they face in attempting to legalize their status, they face the challenge of being Black in America.

Abayomi Azikiwe is editor of Pan African Newswire and an organizer for the Moratorium Now coalition in Detroit. He joins us to talk about the tax foreclosure crisis in that city. Thousands of Black homeowners are at risk of losing their properties.
