Galbraith, of the University of Texas, at Austin. “It would simply force older workers, including many unemployed workers, into a futile competition for available jobs.” Galbraith predicts President Obama’s deficit reduction commission will not produce a consensus on Social Security when its recommendations are released, next month, “in which case the best thing would be for it simply to die.”
