Connecting the Dots: Palestine, Israel, the United States and Apartheid

Black and genuinely progressive Americans should be in righteous motion against Israel’s murderous attack on Gaza. “If you were against Apartheid in places like South Africa or Zimbabwe, then you must stand against Apartheid in Israel/Palestine.” But then, the United States, like Israel, “ is ultimately a white settler nation.”

“The United States is unequivocally the world’s number one supporter of Israel.”

This July 2014 the world was reminded just how brutal, oppressive and barbaric the state of Israel is towards Palestinians. Under the guise of “Operation Protective Edge” the state of Israel launched a vicious military campaign that, to date, has murdered over 1000 innocent Palestinians, mostly women and children.

Israel stands as one of the most racist countries known to man. Not only is it an Apartheid state, it is also viciously racist towards many of the black Africans who reside within its manufactured borders. Those who are unaware of these irrefutable facts are hapless victims of well-executed propaganda campaigns conducted by the Israel lobby and its Western media sycophants.  These people have bought into the lie that Israel is the victim and the people of Palestine are the aggressors. This could not be further from the painful truth.

Zionists stole Palestine back in the late 1940s, and then renamed it “Israel.”  Motivated by a most racist ideology, Zionism, white Israelis then forced countless indigenous Palestinians into small areas of land now known as Gaza (the world’s largest open air prison), West Bank and East Jerusalem. Within these areas Palestinians are treated as animals and have little ability to control their own destinies. They are ultimately starved of any control of things like electricity or water. The Zionist Apartheid state of Israel control and decide how much water, electricity and essential resources Palestinians are able to receive. The brutal and inhumane treatment of Palestinians is not unlike that of South Africa during white minority rule (Apartheid). Again, those who are unaware of these facts are unwitting pawns of a vicious propaganda campaign – or they are simply intellectually dishonest. In essence, if you were against Apartheid in places like South Africa or Zimbabwe, then you must stand against Apartheid in Israel/Palestine.

“The brutal and inhumane treatment of Palestinians is not unlike that of South Africa during white minority rule (Apartheid).”

Apartheid is evil and it is deadly. Those not familiar with the situation may think that innocent lives are lost only lost during Israeli aggression and Palestinian resistance, however death takes no vacations during Apartheid. Week after week, within the occupied territories, people lose their lives simply because they have little to no access to basic medical treatments. This loss of life would be significantly mitigated if the Zionist Apartheid State of Israel would lift their illegal and barbaric blockade. However, the blockade, occupation and Apartheid remain, which ensures death and hell on earth also remain a reality for Palestinian men, women and children.

Those that support the historic and contemporary brutal treatment of Palestinians have lost much of their own humanity. They refuse to see the evil within Apartheid. They refuse to see the facts associated with the theft of the Palestinians’ land and the malicious theft of their ability to control their collective destinies. Governments that support Israel’s actions are, themselves, morally corrupt. The United States is unequivocally the world’s number one supporter of Israel.

Year after year the US government supplies Israel with at least 3.1 billion dollars in direct military aid. Gutless politicians lack the backbone and moral integrity to speak out against Israel’s treatment of Palestinians. They are petrified by the Israeli lobby, led by the likes of AIPAC (American Israel Public Affairs Committee), and what those degenerates might do to prevent them from winning their next election.

“It is no coincidence that both Israel and the US supported the white minority regime in South Africa.”

If the United States was not, itself, such a quagmire of misinformation, false propaganda and injustice, there would be more of a critical mass of Americans taking to the streets in protest. The United States is a nation formed and founded upon the illegal theft of Native American land and African slavery. The US has also forced its indigenous population onto reservations devoid of ample resources. It is a country that established inhumane Jim Crow Laws to suppress African/black people. The US has a rich history of barbaric treatment levied upon communities of color within its own manufactured borders. It, too, is ultimately a white settler nation. Perhaps this is why the US government has no reservations (no pun intended) when it comes to financing and openly supporting brutal regimes like that of the Zionist Apartheid State of Israel.

If there is to be any significant social and policy change in Palestine/Israel it will have to come from a unified grassroots movement of people (from academics to activists to community leaders) and organizations. People must mobilize, protest and organize, just as they did during the movement to end Apartheid in South Africa. It is no coincidence that both Israel and the US supported the white minority regime in South Africa.

It is time for concerned humans to educate themselves on the root causes of the human rights crisis within Palestine/Israel. Once educated, we will be much more effective in educating others to speak out more effectively and to organize within larger movements. One such practical movement is the BDS Campaign (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions against Israel). Joining these types of movements and organizations strengthens their impact and thus bolsters the global movement to end Apartheid in Israel, ultimately liberating the people of Palestine.

If we choose to remain silent, we have collectively failed the next generation, teaching them that cowardly acts are morally acceptable.

Let us all begin building a better future and society, for all, by standing up, speaking out and organizing for truly socially just, equitable and peace-oriented world. Our goals must aim high. A world with Apartheid and imperialism is a world devoid of peace and humanity. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. once said, “ Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.” Will we continue to allow our lives to dissolve away into obscurity with cowardly silence or will we live our lives, setting noble examples for the future----by working together to end Apartheid in Palestine/Israel. Free Palestine!
