US Was Model for South African Apartheid
The US acted as midwife to South Africaās apartheid system, said Dr. Gerald Horne, author of āUS Imperialism and Anti-Communism vs. Liberation of Southern Africa, from Rhodes to Mandela.ā Horne, a professor of History and African American Studies at the University of Houston and possibly Black Americaās most prolific living political writer, said the US Carnegie Corporation formulated āthe blueprintā for South Africaās apartheid system, imposed in 1948 as āa combination of neo-slavery and Jim Crow on steroids.ā
Mumia Book Supplants Howard Zinn
āMumia has decided to go to the next level and replace Howard Zinn,ā the revered author of āA Peopleās History of the United States,ā said Todd Steven Burroughs, an author and biographer of Mumia Abu Jamal, at a roundtable discussion of Abu Jamal and Stephen Vittoria three-part book, āMurder Incrporated,ā at Newark, New Jerseyās Source of Knowledge bookstore. Mumia and VIttoria bring a ādecolonized perspectiveā to US history, said Burroughs.
On Prison Radio, Abu Jamal said voters should reject Joe Bidenās presidential candidacy because of his support for the 1990s Crime Bill, a bankruptcy act that enslaved students to college debt, and the Iraq war.
Mackler Running Against War
