Social Media Scam Alert: Top Ten Ways to Tell Kony is Phony

Thanks to relentless promotion by corporate media, government, celebrities, right wing foundations & church groups, & politicians of both corporate parties, the Kony 2012 video has “gone viral.”  Viewed on YouTube more than a hundred million times, it paints a vivid, simple picture, clear enough, its narrator says, for a 5 year old. But is it real, or is it propaganda, and for what purpose?

Social Media Scam Alert: Top Ten Ways to Tell Kony is Phony
by BAR managing editor Bruce A. Dixon

Joseph Kony, the Invisible Children YouTube video tells us, is a bad guy in Uganda. He's a lawless warlord leading something called the Lord's Resistance Army, which kidnaps, enslaves and murders innocent children by the tens of thousands. We're never told exactly why, as corporate media simply paint Africa as a hellish and inexplicable place where things like that just happen. The Ugandan government, the video tells us, would gladly shut Joseph Kony down and bring him to justice if only the US would provide the advanced weapons, sophisticated tracking gear, military training and the boots on the ground to help get it done. To make this happen, all that Kony 2012's promoters ask of us is to help spread “awareness” of Uganda's “invisible” child soldiers by facebooking, tweeting and repeating the Kony 2012 video, and by emailing influential politicians and the one-name celebrities like Oprah, Bono, Rhianna, Cosby and Lady Gaga (OK, Lady Gaga is two names) to whom they listen. The Kony 2012 video aims to bring this criminal child-enslaving Ugandan warlord to justice by enlisting tens of millions of us little people in making Kony's name an odious household word around the planet, after which Washington DC will stretch forth its military arm to bring Joseph Kony, alive if possible, before the International Criminal Court for trial and punishment.

Almost everything is wrong with this simple picture, from the missing histories and the hidden motives of storytellers and players to false statements of processes and problems real and unreal on both sides of the Atlantic. In fact, Kony 2012 is not a search for justice. Kony 2012 is a corporate-style PR and psy-ops campaign, a cynical hoax engineered to justify US and Western military intervention to control the incredibly lucrative oil, mineral, water and strategic resources of the heart of Africa.  The kind of social media activism the video promotes is calculated to make Americans feel good about themselves for "spreading awareness" of child soldiering when they're really spreading racist ignorance and disinformation, building a disinformed public consent for ongoing, open and direct, as opposed to covert and indirect US military intervention in Africa. "Don't study history" the video's makers tell us --- "make history!" But the history that a lied to and disinformed public makes is bound to not be pretty.

Black Agenda Report is far from the first or the only news source to point that Kony 2012 is a warmongering hoax, and we certainly won't be the last.  As our contribution, we here offer our top ten reasons why Kony is phony.

Reason #10: Invisible Children is funded by a core of notorious right wing donors including the Discovery Institute, which Bruce Wilson fingered in a March 11 Talk 2 Action piece as the leading funder of efforts to promote the replacement of biological sciences in schools with “intelligent design,”along with the Caster Foundation and the National Christian Foundation, all prominent backers of anti-gay referenda, politicians and initiatives in the United States and around the world. The Ugandan regime of Yoweri Museveni is a favorite of theirs for having passed legislation making it a criminal offense to be gay, punishable by a life sentence.  Credible African journalists like Keith Harmon Snow have also alleged that Invisible Children’s white and male  leaders have direct personal connections to US intelligence agencies.

Reason #9: Invisible Children and Kony 2012 don't tell us that the Ugandan president Yoweri Museveni, one of the “good guys” in the Kony 2012 universe, shot his own way to power using an army that included enslaved child soldiers, of his own according to the same International Criminal Court they want to haul Kony before. Bruce Wilson’s excellent March 8 Talk 2 Action article "Invisible Children" Co-founder (KONY 2012) Hints It's About Jesus, and Evangelizing links to numerous sources for this and much else. You'd never know it from Kony 2012, Fox News or the New York Times, but Museveni is a brutal, murderous dictator, kletopcrat and genocidaire whom the International Criminal Court accuses of using thousands of child soldiers during its genocidal plunder of neighboring Congo, where Uganda and six other African nations invaded and killed an estimated 5 to 6 million Congolese in the late 1990s and early 2000s, a larger death toll than anyplace on planet Earth since the second world war.

Like his colleagues in enighboring Burundi and Rwanda, Ugandan dictator Yoweri Museveni maintains a ridiculously large army for a country so small, which it rents out as “peaceckeepers” for whatever dirty work Washington needs done. Right now ten or twenty thousand Ugandan soldiers are occupying parts of Somalia to keep that country from assembling a central government of its own unfriendly to Western interests.

Reason #8: Invisible Children and the Kony 2012 video also don't tell us that Uganda's Museveni replaced a president and rival general from the Acholi region of northern Uganda, the same ethnic group as Kony's LRA. The Ugandan government has evicted hundreds of thousands of Acholi from their lands and confined them to desperate and squalid refugee camps since 1996. Kony and his LRA did commit monstrous crimes in previous decades, but by now are said to number only a few hundred combatants. Kony may not even have set foot in Uganda in years, but he and the LRA are useful as convenient bogeymen to justify the continued dispossession of Uganda's Acholi, whose chief misfortunes besides the LRA itself, are having produced rivals to Museveni and living at the edge of a resource-rich region that stretches across Uganda's borders for hundreds of miles into Congo and Sudan.

Reason #7: Invisible Children and Kony 2012 are lying when they attribute the disappearance of 30,000 missing northern Ugandan children to the LRA. The truth is that some of the child soldiers the Ugandan government used dto commit genocide in neighboring Congo were abducted in northern Uganda, nobody knows how many, and a large but unknown portion of that region's civilian dead, many of them Acholi, perished at the hands of Uganda's government, which always had far more firepower and resources than the LRA, and just as little regard for the property and lives of innocent civilians and their children.

Reason #6: Threats of massive foreign intervention into civil conflicts never bring adversaries to the table. The threat of foreign intervention prolongs civil conflicts by making it unnecessary for those on whose side the foreigners are expected intervene to negotiate at all, while they leave nothing for the other side to negotiate over. Uganda needs an end to violence, and resources devoted to building its civil society, not more military aid.

Reason #5: The United States, the other “good guy” in Kony 2012's imaginary world invented the modern African child soldier in the late1970s and early 80s, so their commitment to “ending child soldiers” is a bit suspect. Apartheid South Africa was bordered Portuguese ruled Angola and Mozambique, with their own vicious versions of apartheid until 1974. In that year, despite massive US and NATO aid, the Portuguese army rebelled, refused to continue fighting against African independence and overthrew its own government at home. White South Africa was deeply threatened by having independent black regimes now at its borders. So, with US funding it helped create and arm “contra” guerilla forces, UNITA in Angolan and RENAMO in Mozambique to burn schools and clinics, to mine orchards and roads, commit mass rapes, mutilations and murders, terrorizing citizens in their own country. Lacking foreign troops or popular support , but with US aid and plenty of firepower, UNITA and RENAMO hit upon the innovation of kidnapping and enslaving child soldiers to carry out their despicable mission. Both were effusively praised and lavishly funded by Barack Obama's favorite president Ronald Reagan, and their leaders welcomed at the White House.

In his chilling 2003 essay, Barefoot,Sick, Hungry and Afraid – The Real US Policy in Africa, my colleague Glen Ford described how the chaos and social demoralization spread by Western financed armies of nihilistic child soldiers made them an ideal tool for use in whenever the West needs to delay or prevent the emergence of African civil societies and central governments which might succumb to popular demands to develop a country's resources for its people rather than to benefit foreign interests. This strategy was employed in Liberia, Sierra Leone, Congo, Rwanda, Uganda and elsewhere. “Failed states” infested by murderous child soldiers in the 80s and 90s proved to be incredibly good business environments for (mostly) Western extraction of hundreds of billions worth of timber, gold, diamonds, coltan and other vital African resources, and ultimately excuses to come in and install Rwandan and Ugandan-style dictatorships.

Reason #4: Depending on movie stars and celebrities to move public policy is the precise opposite of building the backbone and habits of a vibrant and self-aware civic movement. This kind of so-called activism is looked upon so favorably in corporate media because reinforces a slavish worship of celebrity culture, in which we carry out the will of corporate marketers who tell us what to eat, wear, covet, consume or shun and convince us it was our idea, not theirs. The real deal is that FaceBook, Twitter and much of crowd-sourced consumer culture are fundamentally the master's tools, clicktivism, not activism. It's never easy, and may not even be possible for slaves to free themselves with the master's tools. AFter all, that ain't what they were designed for. Most of those forwarding and FaceBooking the Kony 2012 video, including some of the celebrities, as Keith Harmon Snow points out, probably can't find Uganda on a map.

Reason #3: When both corporate parties, the entire corporate media universe, a constellation of celebrities and movie stars, all the right wing and much of the establishment liberal church along with the whole bag of bipartisan foreign policy experts agree on the need for decisive US military action, you can bet the course of wisdom and truth is just about always in the opposite direction. Republicans and Democrats voted to send troops to Vietnam, and only a single congresswoman voted against war in Afghanistan.

Reason #2: Kony 2012 and the campaign to keep US boots on the ground in Central Africa are all about the oil. And the diamonds. And the gold. And the coltan, and the water. Uganda's northern region contains vast oil reserves, and neighboring Congo is the source of most of the planet's coltan, a highly conductive compound used in every cell phone, computer, aircraft, automobile, missile, GPS or other electronic device on earth.

Reason #1: It's all about white people, the white West and their First Black President doing their imperial and colonial thing, running the planet for their benefit at everybody else's expense and feeling good about it, saving hapless & hopeless black Africans from themselves. Such a deal. If they wanted to take Kony down, they could have done it last week, last year, five or ten years ago. If they do take him down it'll be cause their Kony tool has outlived its usefulness, and maybe they need to plant a big wet sloppy kiss on Museveni and his gang, a bigger and more important bag of fools and tools.

The good news about Kony 2012 is that unlike the similar “Save Darfur” scam, many voices have been quick to express skepticism, disbelief and flat out ridicule of the Kony 2012 hoax.

The bad news is that US corporate media, Republicans, Democrats, the Obama White House and State Department as well as rabid Tea Party senators and congress creatures are all permanent cheerleaders for war and empire. So few of Kony 2012's many critics will get on the TV stations that caused Invisible Children's video to “go viral.” Corporate media don't cover Africa or the actions of the US in Africa. Thus the Pentagon's social media propaganda shops are free to spin and promote whatever fables they require to obtain our disinformed consent for the next oil and resource war --- in Africa.

Mark Twain said a hundred years ago --- talking about genocidal Western exploitation of the Congo, in fact, that a lie can flash across the world in the time the truth takes to put its boots on. But the boots are on. The truth is out here, and you are responsible for helping it overtake the lie.

So forward the link to this article to your friends. Put it on your FaceBook page. Tweet it and repeat it and send it to as many of your family, friends, colleagues, associates, bosses, employees and acquaintances as you can. Tomorrow, when we record a YouTube video of it, do the same with that. The cure for fake “awareness” campaigns that justify US military intervention in Africa is the truth. Don't be used. Do study history, Africa's and your own. And do make history.

what about soros?

As the saying goes: "Don't shoot the messenger."

http://actforamerica.wordpress.com/2011/10/16/why-u-s-military-in-uganda...

A 2008 national oil and gas policy, proposed with aid from a Soros-funded group, was supposed to be a general road map for the handling and use of the oil. However, the policy’s recommendations have been largely ignored, with critics accusing Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni of corruption and of tightening his grip on the African country’s emerging oil sector.

Soros himself has been closely tied to oil and other interests in Uganda.

In 2008, the Soros-funded Revenue Watch Institute brought together stakeholders from Uganda and other East African countries to discuss critical governance issues, including the formation of what became Uganda’s national oil and gas policy.

Also in 2008, the Africa Institute for Energy Governance, a grantee of the Soros-funded Revenue Watch, helped established the Publish What You Pay Coalition of Uganda, or PWYP, which was purportedly launched to coordinate and streamline the efforts of the government in promoting transparency and accountability in the oil sector.

Also, a steering committee was formed for PWYP Uganda to develop an agenda for implementing the oil advocacy initiatives and a constitution to guide PWYP’s oil work.

PWYP has since 2006 hosted a number of training workshops in Uganda purportedly to promote contract transparency in Uganda’s oil sector.

PWYP is directly funded by Soros’ Open Society as well as the the Soros-funded Revenue Watch Institute. PWYP international is actually hosted by the Open Society Foundation in London.

The billionaire’s Open Society Institute, meanwhile, runs numerous offices in Uganda. It maintains a country manager in Uganda, as well as the Open Society Initiative for East Africa, which supports work in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.

The Open Society Institute runs a Ugandan Youth Action Fund, which states its mission is to “identify, inspire, and support small groups of dedicated young people who can mobilize and influence large numbers of their peers to promote open society ideals.”

Soros group: Send military advisors to Uganda

In April 2010 Soros’ International Crisis Group, or ICG, released a report sent to the White House and key lawmakers advising the U.S. military run special operations in Uganda to seek Kony’s capture:

http://www.crisisgroup.org/en/regions/africa/horn-of-africa/uganda/157-l...

The report states, “To the U.S. government: Deploy a team to the theatre of operations to run an intelligence platform that centralizes all operational information from the Ugandan and other armies, as well as the U.N. and civilian networks, and provides analysis to the Ugandans to better target military operations.”

Since 2008 the U.S. has been providing financial aid in the form of military equipment to Uganda and the other regional countries to fight Kony’s LRA, but Obama’s new deployment escalates the direct U.S. involvement.

Soros sits in the ICG’s executive board along with Samuel Berger, Bill Clinton’s former national security advisor; George J. Mitchell, former U.S. Senate Majority Leader who served as a Mideast envoy to both Obama and President Bush; and Javier Solana, a socialist activist who is NATO’s former secretary-general as well as the former foreign affairs minister of Spain.

Jimmy Carter’s national security advisor, Zbigniew Brzezinski, is the ICG’s senior advisor.

The ICG’s president emeritus is Gareth Evans, who, together with activist Ramesh Thakur, is the original founder of the Responsibility to Protect doctrine, with the duo even coining the term “responsibility to protect.”

Both Evans and Thakur serve as advisory board members of the Global Center for the Responsibility to Protect, the main group pushing the doctrine.

As WND first exposed, Soros is a primary funder and key proponent of the Global Centre for Responsibility to Protect:

http://www.wnd.com/2011/03/278685/

Soros’ Open Society is one of only three nongovernmental funders of the Global Centre for the Responsibility to Protect. Government sponsors include Australia, Belgium, Canada, the Netherlands, Norway, Rwanda and the U.K.

Myopic Black vs White

Dixon is so stuck in Black vs White he fails to see Zionism.  Before Palestine, Zionist founder Herzl first choice was Uganda.  Hardcore Zionist haven't given up on that dream and as Zionism is in full control of U.S. foreign policy, Obama, the Zionist stooge, has his sights on opening up an African beachead for these Jewish racists.

This goes way beyond the myopic Black v. White paradigm that Dixon is seems to be stuck or what I hope is not the case deliberately use as disinformation.

WHITE SUPREMACY TRUMPS ZIONISM

For at least 500 years the Western European agenda in Africa has been to exploit and to control the people and the natural resources of the entire continent. While it is true that some of the White invaders/oppressors were (and are) Jews, or Zionists, or even Israeli sympathizers,  many more have been (and are) mainstream Christian capitalists. Neither the Belgians, the Portuguese, nor the Rhodesians were noted for their love of Jews or of Zionism. All of them were White supremacists, and the colonies which they imposed on Black Africans reflected it.  Most Afrikaners were German sympathizers during WWI and Nazi sympathizers during WWII. Because of this, there was a near civil war between Afrikaners and English speaking Whites during that time. The relationship between racist Whites in Africa and Zionist Israel wasn't a love affair. It was all about two White Western minorities marooned by their own racist policies coming together and pooling their resources in order to help each other to remain in power and in control by keeping the oppression going. If the ANC wasn't completely submissive to White interests within South Africa and in the West, they would long ago have released all of the documents exposing how Israel, the United States and other freedom-loving Western governments actively supported the apartheid regime for decades. Instead, the ANC remains cuddly with Israel, preferring to spend what little remains of its moral capital, banning and silencing Black critics, and slavishly serving the West's neo liberal agenda. I'm not saying that Zionism doesn't exist or that it is a benign ideology. What I am saying is that, when one compares the two, White supremacy is the biggest killer and oppressor of Blacks in history, and,  for most of that time, it has been practiced without any aid from Zionists.

Don't understate zionism

Any form of oppression of one particular group of people by another is ignoble. Don't try to understate one over the other.  How really does white supremacy trump zionism?  How is it that in zionist Israel, the falashas or ethiopian jews are discriminated against? What about the slavs -- the Russians, Serbians, etc? By the color of their skin, the slavs are generally white but the Nazis saw them in the same sub-human category as many of their undesirables that 20 - 30 million of them had to lose their lives to defeat Hitler.  This whole black vs white paradigm that most of us tend to find reason for almost all societal contradictions or cleavages is way too simplistic and somewhat deceptive in understanding the oppressive forces of mankind.  Do you ever not wonder why most black people could condone and even excuse the same but now camouflaged attacks of white supremacy under a half-black President of the United States? And do you not wonder why zionists are at the center of every advisory role in justifying these attacks? More so, do you not even get puzzled that the white leadership of the western world is prepared to sacrifice the interest of their rank-and-file at the service of the zionist entity and logic?  Let's get this straight: zionist is a supremacist ideology.  It is furtive in its assault because it has forged a symbiotic relationship judeo-christian institutions to assume some divine legitimacy.  The zionists control the oil of capitalism -- finance; and they have managed to take over the means of 'manufacturing' and disseminating 'consent'.  Fear zionism; it is a beast.

IF ZIONISM WAS GONE

As I have clearly shown White supremacy has existed in many places in the world without Zionism and it has been practiced by many Whites who have no use for, or love of, or any relationship with Jews or Judaism or Zionists. The oppression my family experienced in Jim Crow America was not orchestrated by an invisible all powerful Zionist cabal. Our oppressors were devout White Christians who represented many "mainstream" denominations. Because many if not most Jews identify themselves as White Westerners, when it suits them, it has been easy for them to jump on the White supremacist bandwagon just as Irish, Italians, Russians, etc. etc.etc. have done. If Zionism was to magically disappear tomorrow, White supremacy would still be alive and well, and it would still be killing and oppressing Black people here and elsewhere in the world. Meanwhile, the same people who used Zionism as an excuse to avoid taking the power and the reality of race and racism seriously would try to displace the blame for the ongoing situation to  other causes such as "class" or "human nature."

That is so simplistic

There won't be anymore white supremacy if the China man runs the world.  What about this? Would it be possible for zionism to outlive white supremacy?  You still come back with this facile argument that white supremacy precedes zionism and that the white supremacists have never cared for the Jews.  First, not all Jews are zionists.  When zionism popped up, some Jewish Rabbis called it an apostasy.  What you fail to realize is those who have gathered around zionism have often never had use for 'white supremacists' anyway.  For them white supremacists are just 'goyim'.  They are gentiles; and gentiles are only a little better than animals. So before you get into this exaggeration of white supremacy, you might as well check into the also virulent ideology behind zionism.  And let us not forget:  How many black people these days do not accept 'white supremacy', at least at the subconcious level? Our sense of beauty dominantly cede to white standards.  We are so messed up ourselves, I find it revulsive when we blame all our problems on white supremacy.

Is 'Zionism' that You're 'Debating' a Form of White Supremacy???

Food For Thought: Could it be that the 'Zionism' that you all have been squabbling over is another form of white-supremacy???

And what is white supremacy?

And what is the fuss about white supremacy? Maybe, you don't understand zionism.  There are christians zionists -- a lot of black people are among the lot; and there arabs who collaborate with zionist -- the Saudis for one.  So how could zionism be another form of white supremacy when those who yell harder about racism subscribe to the zionism's logic.  While your fussed up 'white supremacy' is panting breathlessly to find its continued essence, zionism has morphed into insidious forms that its victims are often in denial about their attackers.  Could you give me one justification why leading U.S Presidential candidates and some eminent European ones have to swear allegiance to Zionist Israel? I quote Joe Biden:

"I am a zionist, you don't have to be a Jew to be a zionist'

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mZvypFPscP8

UNREAL

You're correct. The Zionists are the only enemy which Black people have ever had, and they are immortal, invincible, all powerful, and everywhere. White people don't even exist, they are all just Zionists who are usually just too afraid to admit it. There never was race based  oppression in the United States, Brazil, Cuba, South Africa, or any where else in the world. In spite of all of the signs, laws, and customs which were specific about race, none of it was real. The people who enslaved, lynched, and other wise oppressed Black people were all Zionists or were too stupid to realize that they were being used and controlled by Zionists. Zionism is also more powerful and more relevant in the modern world than Chinese or Indian or any other cultures or belief systems. Whatever.

This "debate" no longer serves any constructive purpose. If you wish to persist in your belief that White supremacy does not and has never existed in spite of of historical evidence to the contrary, that is not my problem. I just don't buy your belief that the long running race war waged against Black people by the West is actually a proxy for some nefarious Zionist plot to run the world.

I am not surprised a bit

First, your feeble attempt to twist my words to give some credibility to your revised premise only points your warped understanding of oppression.  Yeah, Susan Rice, Colin Powell, Condoleeza Rice and others are 'white supremacists'?  That is the problem.  Trying to explain every form of injustice in this world through the prism of 'white supremacy'? No where in my write-up did I state that 'white supremacy' never existed and that all injustices to black people are the result of zionism. I was hoping you could be open-minded about the power of zionism in the aftermath of the second world war.  Instead of responding to my questions on the dominant role of zionists in the the politics of leading western countries, you attempt to assail my intelligence with this sentimental recoil to historical black oppression.  The Iraqis, the afghans, the palestinians do not matter. Only black people have a story to tell about their oppression?  Moreover, finance capital which is pretty much run by zionists, its role in devastating Africa and most of the third world making them modern day slaves is of no importance to you. Now finance capital is devastating both white and black; and it blame white supremacy? Don't kid me.  The struggle for justice cannot be 'ghettoized'.  If we are not prepared to decipher the new harbingers of doom, we have no business delving into such topics.  A well known zionist Mayer Rothschild once said:

"Let me issue and control a nation's money, and I care not who writes the law"

Obama, Condi & Sue Rice, Holder, & Uncle Judge Thomas, etc...

Obama, Condi & Sue Rice, Eric Holder, & Uncle Judge Thomas, etc... are products of a white supremacist environment!

Or in the words of Malcolm X & others 'They are a bunch of Uncle Tom {White}House Negroes'! Others may haved used the term 'Oreo Cookie' Negroes!

I am not surprised a bit

YOUR FIGHT, MY FIGHT, OUR FIGHT?

Are Blacks who consistently betray their people, de facto White Supremacists?  Some of them may be. Every system of oppression needs opportunists, traitors and defeatists of many kinds among those whom it wishes to oppress. In nearly every war or conflict Whites have used "divide and misrule" tactics against their enemies. Where do you think that the intel which their hit squads and drones use against people in the Third World and elsewhere comes from?

You'll have to ask the so-called Black leaders you mentioned whom they serve and whom they do not, and why it's so. I think that they serve "the system", and "the system" as they see it, is owned and controlled by White people, not all of whom are Zionists. They want in, so they will play ball with whomever is "in charge." If the system was run by Chinese they would serve them. If it was run by Blacks they would serve them. None of these Black "leaders" are "change agents." They are in it for themselves. They want pay and personal power and prestige. They have no interest in protecting Black people from its excesses, because as long as they are "good" overseers who play by the rules of the plantation, they themselves are insulated from the worse of them. None of these people have any loyalty to Black people as a whole.

According to your reading of history the Whites only signs in America and South Africa and in Rhodesia and elsewhere all magically disappeared in May of 1945, when the Zionists took over as the primary racists on planet earth after a moving hand over ceremony with representatives of the traditional White Christian, Non Zionist power structure at International Cabal Headquarters. During dessert, it was agreed that the new Zionist management would allow the tired old White, non Zionist management to keep its ill-gotten gains and its skin color privileges in exchange for it issuing a blanket endorsement of everything done in the name of Zionism. I'm not buying it.

I will grant that the role of Zionism as an ally of the pre-existing White power structure rose exponentially in the aftermath of the defeat of Germany and the creation of Israel. I simply do not accept the premise that Zionism has replaced White supremacy as the principal enemy of Black people.
Especially when one grapples with the fact of an enormous anti-African and anti-Black streak in many Islamic cultures, especially those which have a history of enslaving Blacks and invading their lands. Sudan is not unique in this. All too often, the anti-Zionist Muslims are just as anti Black as are the Western Christians and Jews who hate them. In the real world, often the enemy of my enemy is just another enemy.

Ghettoization huh? Please let me know when anti-Black racism matters to Palestinians, Afghans, Iraqis, Cherokees, poor Whites, Tibetans etc. etc. etc. etc. as much as their own struggles do. Let me know when all of these oppressed groups drop their causes and struggles in order to come  running to denounce racist attacks against Blacks. Let me know when any of them actually invest any time or substantial resources in fighting against White people or institutions which engage in acts of aggression against Black people and their interests. Far  too many Blacks are quick to set aside their battle in order to "join" those of other peoples in exchange for....fake solidarity? Symbolic brotherhood?  Fair weather "friends?"

Back to reality. In 2012, in post racial, post White supremacist America, Blacks still cannot protect their own children from any trigger happy white man with a grudge and a self appointed position as an enforcer. No Tibetans, Palestinians, Seminoles, etc. can either, assuming that any of them give a damn. In 2012, it still takes massive demonstrations by Black kids at Black colleges, and intervention by over the hill Black activists, AND international condemnation just to get a civil rights investigation, (not a murder investigation) started by a government which has more Black figureheads in positions of "power" than has ever been the case in this nation's history.

You fight Zionism. I'll fight the traditional enemies of Black people, those who practice White supremacy and domination. Whenever Zionism, or Chinese nationalism, or Islamic domination, or any other ism sides with anti-Black forces, I'll take them on too. And I will do so with or without the aid or approval from other people whose priorities lie in other struggles.

Kony 2012

Please remmember that in Oct.2010 the Obama admin. rejected a ban on giving aid to countries that us child soldiers.  Uganda could have caught Kony already if it had not used its army in invading the Congo.

The fact of warlordism is not addressed.  Before kony there was Charles Taylor in Liberia, Polpot in Canbodia, The Shining path in Peru.  The list goes on.  What allows these events to continue.

If invisible Children were serious their first stop would be the Obama White House rejcting the ban on child soldiering.

And from this article: Reason #5: The United States, the other “good guy” in Kony 2012's imaginary world invented the modern African child soldier in the late1970s and early 80s, so their commitment to “ending child soldiers” is a bit suspect.  With US funding the former Aparthied Regime in S.Africa  helped create and arm “contra” guerilla forces, UNITA in Angolan and RENAMO in Mozambique to burn schools and clinics, to mine orchards and roads, commit mass rapes, mutilations and murders, terrorizing citizens in their own country. Lacking foreign troops or popular support , but with US aid and plenty of firepower, UNITA and RENAMO hit upon the innovation of kidnapping and enslaving child soldiers to carry out their despicable mission. Both were effusively praised and lavishly funded by Barack Obama's favorite president Ronald Reagan, and their leaders welcomed at his White House.

Saddam Hussein & Manuel Noriega were CIA assets- whom later the US decided to cast as villians. Saddam did the US' bidding by over-throwing an elected gov't & 'purging' non-pro US elements from Iraq's gov't when he came to power. AND- Mr CIA / Skull{duggery}& Bones Bush Sr was Noriega's CIA pay-master!

And then we have 2 of the US' favorite Black / African dictatorships- Poppy & Baby Doc [who the US & France let return to Haiti 'Scott Free' w a 'Get out of Jail Free Card' as they at the same time tried to block the return of Pres Aristide {who they helped pull a coup on twice] Dulvalier -&- Last but not Least- The notorious Mobutu who- along w the CIA, the Belgiums & even the UN- had Patrice Lumuba's [and millions of Congoleses] blood all over his [& their] hands!

The problem w most folks in the US, white & even Black, especially  young folk- is their knowledge of the World & history especially RE: Africa is quite shallow & lacking. IMO: Most people in the US think Africa is a country - rather than the 2nd largest continent on the planet! Thats the reason why 'Kony's' producers picked well known celebs to hype this phony 'Kony' {un}documentary- they know that most young folk will relate to & 'trust' that these celebs must know what's - what [NOT!] - When, in general, its actually just the opposite! When you've got folks like Rhianna, Lady Gaga & Kim Kardasian - hyping a {un}documentary RE: Africa- they probably do NOT know what the hell they're talking about!!!

AFRICAN ILLITERACY TEST

I think that all wannabe White Western do-gooders should be required to take and to pass a basic competency test consisting of 50 to 100 questions, including multiple choice questions and at least one essay before they are allowed to speak on African issues, let alone take up any crusades in Africa.

1. Find Africa on a globe.

2. Name the capital of Africa.

3. Name two African presidents. Note: Nelson Mandela and Idi Amin don't count.

4. When was Africa decolonized? Note: this may be a trick question depending on a student's understanding of the term "colonized."

5. Name three or more raw materials which the West and the rest of the world import in bulk from Africa. Note: pick items other than diamonds, oil, or gold.

6. Name three or more indigenous African languages.

6a. Extra credit. Where are the languages spoken?

7. Describe in detail the belief systems and rituals of two or more indigenuos African religions.

8. Essay. In 300 words or less explain why you believe that your involvement in Africa is necessary and why you believe that your intervention that it will cause more good than harm.

Oh really?

And how many of our black folks here can pass that? Ask skippy Gates if you could speak any african language before he embarked on his zionist funded documentary on Africa.  And what about the African caricatures who run to the corridors of power in Europe and America to validate their servility.  It is a mess; and the clean-up will have right at our doorsteps.

AS BAD OR WORSE

I think that most Blacks outside of Africa would do as badly or even worse on this test than Whites or others. After all, who "educates" most Black students about Africa and the rest of the world, and where do most of us get our "news" from? The onus to change this is on Black people..
