A Second Wave of Genocide Looms in Congo, with Susan Rice on Point

by BAR executive editor Glen Ford

Susan Rice is a woman of ghastly accomplishments: suppressor of the facts on genocide in Congo, and chief U.S. warmonger in Africa. Yet African American politicians rush to her defense, as a role model for young Blacks, especially women.

A Second Wave of Genocide Looms in Congo, with Susan Rice on Point

by BAR executive editor Glen Ford

Susan Rice has abetted the Congo genocide for much of her political career.”

The invasion of the Democratic Republic of Congo by U.S. allies Rwanda and Uganda, in 1996, set in motion a genocide that left six million Congolese dead. Another wave of mass killings now looms with this month’s capture of Goma, an eastern Congolese city of one million, by “rebels” under Rwandan and Ugandan control. “People need to be clear who we are fighting in the Congo,” said Kambale Musavuli, of Friends of Congo. “We are fighting western powers, the United States and the United Kingdom, who are arming, training and equipping the Rwandan and Ugandan militaries.” The main player in suppressing information on Congo’s neighbors’ role in the ongoing genocide, is U.S. ambassador to the UN Susan Rice.

Rice has fought a two-front battle to protect Washington’s murderous clients, delaying publication of a UN Group of Experts report on Washington’s clients’ depredations in Congo, and at the same time subverting efforts within the State Department to rein in Uganda and Rwanda. Last week, Rice blocked the UN Security Council from explicitly demanding that Rwanda immediately cease providing support to M23 rebels who vowed to march all the way to Kinshasa, the Congolese capital.

Susan Rice has abetted the Congo genocide for much of her political career. Appointed to President Bill Clinton’s National Security Council in 1993, at age 28, she rose to assistant secretary of state for African affairs in 1997 as Rwanda and Uganda were swarming across the eastern Congo, seizing control of mineral resources amid a sea of blood. She is known to be personally close to Rwanda’s minority Tutsi leadership, including President Paul Kagame, a ruthless soldier trained at the U.S. Army’s Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, and mentored by Ugandan strongman (and Reagan administration favorite) Yoweri Museveni, who is believed to have pioneered the use of child soldiers in modern African conflicts.

Rice said not a word about ethnic cleansing and racial pogroms against black Libyans and sub-Saharan African migrant workers.”

On the outside during the Bush years, Rice became a fierce advocate of “humanitarian” military intervention in Africa, urging air and sea attacks on Sudan and championing the U.S.-backed Ethiopian invasion of Somalia, in 2006. A senior foreign policy advisor on Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign team, Rice made it no secret she hoped to be named secretary of state. As UN ambassador, she is the administration’s top gun on Africa, the focus of her outsized aggressions. Rice is widely credited with convincing Obama to launch NATO’s bombing campaign for regime change in Libya. She parroted false media reports that Muammar Gaddafi’s troops were raping Libyan women with the aid of massive gulps of Viagra, refusing to back down even when U.S. military and intelligence officials told NBC news “there is no evidence that Libyan military forces have been given Viagra and engaging in systematic rape against women in rebel areas.” Yet, Rice said not a word about ethnic cleansing and racial pogroms against black Libyans and sub-Saharan African migrant workers, including the well-documented erasure of the black city of Tawergha.

Susan Rice’s “humanitarian” instincts, like her boss’s, are highly selective – so much so, that a genocide equal to or greater than the Nazi’s liquidation of European Jewry is invisible to her. More accurately, Rice labors mightily to render the genocide in Congo invisible to the world, suppressing release or discussion of reports on Rwanda and Uganda’s crimes.

Rice labors mightily to render the genocide in Congo invisible to the world.”

The first document, a “Mapping Report,” described human rights violations in the Democratic Republic of Congo from 1993 through 2003. Finally published by the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in October of 2010, after long delays, the document specifically charges Rwandan troops with engaging in mass killings “that might be classified as crimes of genocide.” The more recent report by a UN Group of Experts concludes that M23, the Congolese “rebel” group that captured Goma, is actually “a Rwandan creation,” embedded with Rwandan soldiers that take their orders from Paul Kagame’s military. Uganda also supports M23.

Susan Rice, as an energetic protector and facilitator of genocide, should be imprisoned for life (given that the death penalty is no longer internationally sanctioned). But of course, the same applies to her superiors, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. One would think that the Congressional Black Caucus would be concerned with the threat of a second wave of mass killings in Congo. Not so. A Google search fails to reveal a word of complaint from the Black lawmakers about genocide in Congo or suppression of documentation of genocide – or much of anything at all about Africa since the death of New Jersey Rep. Donald Payne, ranking member of the House Subcommittee on African Affairs, in March of this year.

One would think that the Congressional Black Caucus would be concerned with the threat of a second wave of mass killings in Congo. Not so.”

Instead, incoming Congressional Black Caucus chair Marcia Fudge, of Cleveland, held a press conference with female Caucus members to defend Rice, “a person who has served this country with distinction,” from Republican criticism of her handling of the killing of the U.S. Ambassador to Libya. “We will not allow a brilliant public servant’s record to be mugged to cut off her consideration to be secretary of state,” said Fudge.

In the Congressional Black Caucus’ estimation, Rice’s “record” as chief warmonger in Africa and principal suppressor of the facts on genocide in Congo makes her a role model for African Americans, especially young Black women.

Her relationship to the women of Congo is more problematic. Said Kambale Musavuli, of Friends of Congo, which works tireless on behalf of victims of mass rape in eastern Congo: “Why should you want to help a Congolese woman who is raped, when your tax money is supporting the ones that are doing the raping? That’s a contradiction”

In the Age of Obama, the Black American relationship to Africa is suffocating from such contradictions.

Black Folks Been Hoodwinked & Bamboozled Beyond What Malcolm Saw

The power-elite puppet-masters have come up w a real winner for them to get Black folks to cheer for US imperialism [inherently militaristic], neo-liberal corp capitalism [inherently exploitive & anti-worker]. They just 'found' some 'ambitious' so-called 'centrist' corp Black Dims to do it. What's the real difference between Condi Rice & Sue Rice / Eric Holder & Colin Powell? NONE- Except that Condi & Colin [& Uncle Judge Thomas] were/are identified as Bushite Repugs, while Sue & Eric are Obama [Clinton] Dims. As such Blacks tolerated some principled critique of Condi & Colin [especially after his infamous 'Saddam's Got WMDs' performance at the UN- which 'justified' the Iraq invasion], while NO such critique is tolerated by most Blacks RE Obama, Sue & Eric. Thus too many Blacks are allowing them [some are even cheering for them] to literally get away w Murder!

AND FOR WHAT- Has Obama even half-way protected & supported Blacks [& Browns & the working-class] w even half the vigor that Blacks have 'protected' & supported him??? HELL NO!

We Are All Americans Now

The Black Prophetic Tradition of speaking truth to power and being a bulwark against oppression at home and abroad has dissipated into "Pimp my Ride" and "Real Housewives" and "Prosperity Ministry Pimpetry."  African Americans have assimilated hook, line and sinker.  We've gone "all in."  There is no turning back now, no more "back in the day," or "old school," Stevie Wonder has even lost his Inner Vision.

We are Americans now, fully integrated into the blood-soaked, depraved colonial mindset and empire that brought us over here in chains.  We are wretched, soul-less creatures, virtual zombies, walking dead waiting for scraps from the "Grand Bargain" or to eagerly joining the military to kill people of color abroad.  The militarization of our society has reached sick proportions manifested in the marriage of sports and militarism.

We are seeing the culmination of 400 years of racism and how it has made all of us literally mad dogs.  Obama transfers over 13 Trillion and counting--$80 Billion each month through QE 3-- to the richest, largest, most vile corporations and banks in the world, and White folks insist he's a Socialist.  Obama prosecutes not 1, not a single Wall St. vulture for massive crimes, says nothing about the prison-industrial complex and creates a fraudulent Big Lie called the "Fiscal Cliff" (a fraud that he set in place with Boehner) to rob poor and working class folks, persons of color especially, of their last bit of dignity and wealth, and the Blacks and persons of color hail him as "Heaven Sent."  And like the whore and fraud who poses as as minister, Michael Eric Dyson, they like him claim he's the most progressive President in a long time.

So we are stuck, fixated between two schools of unrelenting cognitive dissonance.

We are all mad dog, consumeristic, worshipers of status and things, just like the White folks whom we use to frown upon, frown upon for their greed and callousness.  How do these people sleep at night?  Gerald Celente called it correctly when he referred to them as "Anti-Human."  We are all Americans now, spawn of Satan, wicked beyond one's wildest imagination. And as I said a few weeks ago, channeling Curtis Mayfield:  "If there's a hell below, we're all gonna go."   We deserve to go.  Black, White, Brown, Yellow rich and poor alike.  And we are gonna go.  It's only a matter of time before the system crashes financially and environmentally, or in thermonuclear war, or we usher in a state of prolonged and unrelenting austerity and poverty.

And everyone of these hypocrites who love the material world more than anything, who crow about their Christianity and Christian nation will burn in real time too.  Rapture?  Oh, you gone git rapped upside your head.  If there is a God he/she will deal with our wickedness accordingly.  Cause and effect is a inviolate principle regardless of your belief system.

The planet will soon rid herself of the detrius.  America can't be saved from herself anymore than Israel can.  Put a Black face on a arm of the state and Black folks swoon.  Susan Rice is colonizing Africa for White elites while we get angry at Fox News attacking her.  Rice did lie about Benghazi as did Obama, Petraeus, and Eric Cantor too.  The US was running a Abu Gharib, black ops operation in the so-called embassy, the general's paramour all but said so.  The attack was blowback from the Salafis and Jihadists Obama, Rice, Clinton and the "Ambassador" helped arm.

These animals are destabilzing the planet and despite their arrogance and hubris they have no way of containing the wreckage.  I guess to quote Stevie, we all living just enough for the city.

I hope you hear inside my voice of sorrow
And that it motivates you to make a better tomorrow
This place is cruel no where could be much colder
If we don't change the world will soon be over

Living just enough, stop giving just enough for the city!!!!

IMO FOX Noise Racist Hype RE Obama Part Reality[TV] Part Theater

The Power Elites know that, w [their] lame-stream presstitue media IE: FOX-Noise, Hush Limp-balls, Glen [what the heck] Beck, Sarah's [Ailin] Palin, Donald{Duck} Trump, etc... whippin-up good-ole-boy red-necks into a racist frenzy over an alleged 'Non-Citizen Black-Commie-Muslim' Pres, that most Blacks [& so-called 'liberals'] would circle the wagons around Obama. Well John Kerry ain't gettin the job

"John Kerry Would Be Popular Choice for State"

Ex-Presidential Candidate Respected for Mideast Knowledge

Published Wednesday, November 28, 2012

Sen. John Kerry is reportedly President Obama’s second choice for Secretary of State behind United Nations Ambassador Susan Rice.

Kerry is also an independent thinker on foreign policy, and at times he has raised some eyebrows in the pro-Israel community.

In 2009, Kerry was among the few American politicians to visit Gaza after the Israel’s Cast Lead operation, although he placed blame for the outbreak of violence squarely on Hamas. Kerry also made efforts to promote an Israeli-Syrian peace deal, and visited the now-embattled Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad in Damascus several times.

According to leaked cables on WikiLeaks, Kerry viewed Assad at the time as a leader capable of reforming. He said that a peace deal should include Israeli withdrawal from the Golan Heights.

Kerry's Hyped as 'Liberal Dem'_Really a Skull & Bones-man Like-

His Fellow Alumns Bush Jr / Sr- who are also his distant relatives- as is Obama. Kerry's also the richest person in Congress.

IMO the so-called 'Peace-Process' has been dead since they killed Yitzak Rabin, & to make sure it stayed dead they apparently killed off Arafat too. And the word is Abbas is a puppet / sell-out [SEE: 'Abbas Collaborating w the Enemy' @ www.globalresearch.ca/abbas-collaborating-with-the-enemy/5312919 ].

John Kerry on Nightline discussing CIA drug trafficking

"There is no question in my mind that people affiliated with, or on the payroll of the CIA were involved in drug trafficking while involved in support of the Contras, but it is also important to note that we never found any evidence to suggest that these traffickers ever targeted any one geographic area or population group."

Good stuff Glen! genocide in africa ain't the only credential

"Susan Rice Wins Over Israel Supporters"

Jewish Groups Would Welcome Appointment at State Dept.

Published Wednesday, November 28, 2012

The AIPAC event illustrated the long road that Rice, now the leading candidate to replace Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, has travelled in her relations with the Jewish and pro-Israel communities. From initially being an unknown quantity on Middle East issues, she has earned a reputation as a leading defender of Israel in the international body known for its automatic bias against the Jewish state.

“Her beginning had some rough edges and there were some tensions with the Jewish community, but throughout the years the relationships have warmed,” said Abraham Foxman, national director of the Anti-Defamation League. Foxman now describes Rice as a “gladiator” fighting to defend Israel in hostile atmosphere of the United Nations.

Rice, despite objections of some Senate Republicans, is considered to be President Obama’s first choice for his next Secretary of State, the cabinet position to which American supporters of Israel pay most attention.

A foreign policy scholar who specialized in international peacekeeping and genocide prevention, Rice served as Obama’s foreign policy adviser during the 2008 presidential campaign. She was appointed ambassador to the United Nations, a cabinet-level post, following his election.

Rice, 48, was initially met with concern among supporters of Israel who feared that the new United Nations envoy would favor international involvement in the Israeli – Palestinian conflict.

But as America’s top representative to the body that came to symbolize the anti-Israel sentiment of the international community, Rice had plenty of opportunities to prove her support to Israel by working to defeat resolutions and measures aimed at censuring and denouncing Israel, or as she herself put it, battling “the anti-Israel crap.”

Rice used her first veto to block a Security Council resolution criticizing Israel’s settlement policy. She fought against resolutions based on the Goldstone Report, which criticized Israel’s actions during the Gaza conflict, and she spurred the U.S. to withdraw from the Durban review conference in 2009.

The 2011 attempt by the Palestinian Authority to win United Nations recognition as an independent state, galvanized Rice’s relations with pro-Israel activists and transformed her into one of the Obama administration’s most effective communicators to the Jewish community.

Rice, who kept in close contact with the Israeli delegation to the United Nations and with Jewish organizations that were deeply concerned over the Palestinian move, worked with European allies to block the Palestinian attempt. The coalition she assembled eventually succeeded in turning back the bid.

“She is a new personality when it comes to the Middle East and she holds a position that has traditionally been considered problematic for Israel, and still she remarkably managed to turn the liabilities around,” said an administration official on Rice’s work relating to Israel.

With liabilities turned around, Rice enjoyed a warm embrace from the Jewish community.

She received the Conference of Presidents of Major Jewish American Organizations National Service Award, met with leaders of the [American Jewish Committee](http://usun.state.gov/briefing/statements/182371.htm and even travelled to Florida to speak at a Boca Raton synagogue.

“She has been willing to take difficult positions on Israel time and again and when Jewish leaders see that it builds a relationship of trust,” Schonfeld said.

Rice also came under fire for leading America’s rejoining the U.N. Human Rights Commission, a body boycotted by the Bush administration in part due to its strong anti-Israel spirit. Rice, backed by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and President Obama, expressed her wish to reform the council and to refocus its work on human rights abuses around the world. Supporters point to the commission’s resolutions regarding the civil war in Syria as a sign of positive change. But critics state that much of the commission’s work is still focused on bashing Israel.

“This is a point of disagreement. I believe she is still wrong,” said Foxman, while adding that Rice’s motivation for joining the Commission was not to criticize Israel but rather to defend it from within.

Rice has thing for Black folks, just not in a good way

Susan Rice: Benghazi May Be Least of Her Problems

Rights activists say she's been dancing with African dictators since the '90s.

But there are other issues with Rice’s record, both as U.N. ambassador and earlier as a senior Clinton administration official, that are all but certain to come out at any confirmation hearing, many of them concerning her performance in Africa. Critics say that since her failure to advocate an intervention in the terrible genocide in Rwanda in 1994 — Bill Clinton later said his administration's unwillingness to act was the worst mistake of his presidency — she has conducted a dubious and naïve policy of looking the other way at allies who commit atrocities, reflecting to some degree the stark and emotionless realpolitik sometimes associated with Obama, who is traveling this week to another formerly isolated dictatorship: Burma.

U.S. Backed Rebel's advance in Congo

The situation for the masses of people has deteriorated considerably following layoffs in the mineral industry in the wake of the world economic crisis of 2008 and increases in the price of staple foods over the past two years. This explains why the rebels have been able to win support with their call for the overthrow of the Kabila government.

The attitude of the major powers to the rebel movement is ambivalent and characterized by competing interests. The US initially hesitated to intervene following the foundation of the M 23 but then threatened to withdraw its military aid to the Rwandan government due to its role in the fighting in Congo.

The fact that UN soldiers failed to intervene against the M 23 in the most recent fighting, despite protests from the French government, indicates that the UN is prepared to permit a further destabilization of the Congo. A likely reason is China’s involvement in the Congo and the readiness of the Kabila government to cooperate with the US’s main world competitor.

Economic relations between the Congo and China have developed rapidly since 2006.
China, which has been the largest investor in Africa for the past four years, concluded a more than $9 billion “deal of the century” with Congo in 2007. The sum is almost three times the annual budget of the government.

It stipulates that the Chinese side will be responsible for infrastructure projects such as the construction of roads, railways, hospitals, schools and dams, as well as for the development of mines. In return, the Kabila government has committed to providing up to ten million tons of copper and thousands of tons of cobalt, with an estimated market value of between $40 billion-$120 billion.

Chinese companies are currently expanding the telecommunications network in the capital city of Kinshasa and throughout the rest of the country. Almost all of the minerals mined in the Katanga Province are exported to China. In return, China has supplied the Congo with military vehicles, protective clothing, AK-47 rifles and other military equipment. President Kabila, who studied in Beijing, described his meeting with the Chief of General Staff of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army in March 2010 as a “new starting point for military cooperation between the two countries.”

A diplomat in New York recently announced that the UN has requested several states, including the US and France, to supply drones in order to monitor movements along the Congolese border. Last weekend a ceasefire took place in the Congo in order to allow leaders in the region to hold a meeting in Kampala. The assembly called on the rebels to withdraw to their former positions twenty kilometers north of Goma within two days and demanded that the Congolese government listen to and examine the “legitimate demands” of the rebels, and “make concessions if necessary.” The Rwandan president did not attend the meeting.

Why does the u.s. backed tutsi empire want north kivu?

The rebels, thought to number perhaps 1,500 soldiers, say they want to liberate the country from a corrupt regime in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, half a continent away to the west.

The aims of M23, whose Tutsi leaders hail from the same ethnic group as the president of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, remain enigmatic.

Its members claim that promises of jobs and money have been broken by the Congolese authorities.

However, as the rebellion has gained ground, it has looked less like an effort to settle local scores and more like a plan to install Rwanda’s friends at the helm of a buffer state in eastern Congo. [See map]

This could mean calls for North Kivu province to leave Congo, ignoring the wishes of the locals, most of whom have no great desire to be ruled, even indirectly, by Rwanda.

Rice, Yet Another Graduate of the Clinton School

Many of the bad seeds that currently hold commanding positions in the current Democrat Administration received their indoctrination under the tutelage of Bill and Hillary Clinton, charter members of the DLC (Democrat Leadership Council) of the 1980s that was established by a questionable group of racist Blue Dog rightwing southern Democrats and unaffiliated multimillionaires. In those days, most Democrats were in denial concerning the future of the party after wandering for 25 years in a political wasteland and they were willing to accept any up and coming political hopeful with little concern for who was backing them. Desperate Democrats hoped for the best while Clinton didn’t waste any time after entering office establishing his overt Right Wing agenda that continued throughout two terms in office;

1. Approved the NAFTA treaty that began the deindustrialization of America by permitting the exportation of living wage manufacturing jobs to low wage countries. A treaty that had been rejected by former president Bush.

2. A half hearted incompetent attempt to initiate a reform of U.S. Healthcare that was given to a then politically inexperienced Hillary Clinton who was devoured by the Washington wolves on the Right ending any chance for real reform for another decade.

3. The destruction of the New Deal Welfare Program under the control of Bill Clinton that cut benefits to single mothers and forced them to accept low wage jobs with no government support for childcare expenses so Clinton could win his second term.

4. His outgoing gift to Wall Street was his approval to end the Glass Steagall Act that had kept Wall Street Investment Banking separated from commercial banking for over seventy five years. Within seven years of this action that deregulated Wall Street, the economy of the U.S. and many Western countries were in total collapse and their future remains in peril until this day.

Twelve years after leaving office, Clinton continues to hover in the background insuring that Progressive Democrats have two chances, slim and none, to reform their party that has wandered far away from it’s founding principles. It’s obvious that the Obama administration has fully embraced the Clinton/ DLC agenda by keeping several people from the previous Bush administration and appointing many of Clinton’s faithful trainees to key positions in Washington and the U.N. Clinton insured his continuing legacy through his very public efforts to support Obama’s re-election during the campaign. We can’t be too surprised that the party of FDR and John Kennedy is on life support when it’s obvious that a subversive group of Right Wingers has long had a strangle hold on the party’s leadership as the Progressives continue to search for a backbone !

Clinton's Criminal Legacy

You’re on target, Richtown:

“In the span of a few months, President Clinton bombed four countries: Sudan, Afghanistan, Iraq repeatedly, and Yugoslavia massively. At the same time, the U.S. was involved in proxy wars in Angola, Mexico (Chiapas), Colombia, East Timor, and various other places.”

(Michael Parenti, To Kill A Nation)

Clinton  passed the appalling 1996 Communications Act—see my comment after Mr. Dixon’s FCC article below.

The corruption of Bill Clinton and his despicable wife—his bag lady at The Rose Law firm while he was Governor, is legendary:

His presence--in Haiti, in Palestine, in Africa, in South America, in the Obama administration, or at your daughter's Sweet Sixteen party, should always provoke suspicion.

Y'all gotta under and overstand the white elite

There's a reason why I posted a different link of the same thing that EC posted. Ethiopian Review has a link to a very revealing speech by Susan Rice at assassinated dictator Meles' funeral.

Susan Rice believes in a new African Renaissance through ruthless capitalist dictators - the socialism and social programs can come later! (same way the west developed).

This is the same thing Goldman Sachs Dambisa Moyo believes (another lover of Tutsi and Ethiopian dictators):

"Business in Rwanda"

Africa’s Singapore?

A country with a bloody history seeks prosperity by becoming business-friendly

What these two sister's might not understand is that, no matter how much dk he's giving you, the white man don't want Africa adopting anti-imperialist Socialism, or national capitalism... Because then you become a threat if you start growing too rapidly and start doing independent business deals with the Chinese or others (Meles, for getting uppity... This will probably be the Tutsi KIngs undoing as well).

They want you dead and/or impoverished... "Get that through your heads! Or they're gonna kill ya!" This is what I think the white imperialist think.

Bingu Mutharika? Meles Zenawi? John Atta Mills? Umaru Yar'Adua? ALL MURDERED around the same time!

You Go Girl!!!

Is it just me or is every woman that has a last name of Rice someone we should be worry about?  There was Condoleezza Rice and now Susan Rice (are they related???).  The Bush administration had Condoleezza and the Obama has Susan.  These two have played their roles with plenty of bravado and gusto.  There was Condie lying and cheerleading us to war in Iraq (we all know how that turned out)!!!

Now we have Susan who lied about Muammar Gaddafi’s troops and Viagra which lead to the NATO bombing of Libya and the murder Muammar (you go girl).  Presently we are witnessing her aiding, abetting and lying about Rwandan and Ugandan proxy M23 and their whole sale invasion of the Congo to rape pillage and plunder that nation for its mineral resources (You go girl)!!!  It would seem that these Black Women don’t put a premium on other peoples’ lives (especially brown or black folks).

And if that is not enough check this out.

Mrs. Rice has a considerable financial stake in the keystone pipeline and if allowed to become Secretary of State she would be in a position to influence the decision to build the pipeline.  I just wonder which way her decision would go being that she has a lot of loot tied up in companies that are connected to the pipeline project (Don’t go there and  things that make you go Hmmmm).  Yes, Mrs. Rice is a purveyor of death and destruction greed and avarice abroad and may get a chance to bring some of all that back here to the good ole U S of A (you go girl…, straight to you know where)!!!

LOL Please help us all

S Murph

thanks Mr. Ford

Thank you Glen Ford for spreading the truth of what is going on, how would we ever know, being a 56 year old white male I just don't find this kind of info anywhere else. Democracy Now and Chris Hedges are the extent of it, and DN turned me on to Mr. Ford. A friend e-mailed that Susan Rice is invested for 600K in the XL Pipeline, that was the first hint I got to look into her record. The more I read the more ashamed I get, for what America has and is doing around the globe. I ride my bike around the ghetto here in Rochester, NY and say hello to my brothers in despair, often a word of any kind, an acknowledgement of our shared humanity, sparks my heart and makes my day. Often it is the only spark of the day, last xmas the only place where anyone offered an unsolicited greeting came in the ghetto, and the beauty is sincere, so I like to ride the bike around. I don't enjoy living in poverty, but I wouldn't want to be a Rupert Murdoch or Donald Trump or Barack Obama for that matter, who must not feel much spark in their hearts at all to consistently ignore helping the poor, or wage war resulting in the killing of innocents when they know it will happen, and I detest those who pay hundreds of millions for paintings when there are children living in cars and going to bed hungry. Dr. Cornell West is another hero, I saw him in Gainesville, Florida last year at an Occupy gathering, he was hugging people, strangers, in wheelchairs, homeless folks, drunks, his brothers and sisters all, it was love he was sharing, and that must be the answer, to use love, to teach our children love is what is important not making money or being famous. Thanks to Mr. Ford and all the visionaries out on the front lines of this struggle, your words teach us and we spread them around, to stay in the heart is the challenge, and to know there are others in your corner is helpful, and in that connection we endure and keep hope alive.
