Obama’s North African War Face

Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version

by BAR executive editor Glen Ford

Whatever happens to Moammar Gaddafi, an independent Libya is not on the U.S. agenda. “Obama hopes to ‘stabilize’ Libya under indirect U.S. dominion through a kind of protectorate involving various ‘international’ entities, on the Haitian model.” The president’s doctrine of “humanitarian” warfare – like his rhetoric – is merely a sweetened derivative of George Bush’s more crudely presented policies. “In the final analysis, Euro-American hegemony means crushing the aspirations of all Arabs in the sand.”

Obama’s North African War Face

by BAR executive editor Glen Ford

Imperialism’s refreshed Obama-face is looking more than ever like a grotesque Halloween mask, and he knows it.”

In Libya, Barack Obama now faces the central contradiction of his presidency: How to accomplish George Bush’s strategic objective, to wrest back America’s post-Soviet global supremacy – a goal Obama has always, and openly, shared – while avoiding becoming embroiled in another Bush-style “dumb war.” This was the trick that Obama promised he alone was equipped to pull off by adorning the U.S. empire with a new, engaging, articulate, colored “face.”

Obama strains to maintain that prefabricated face in the midst of an explosive and wholly unexpected political earthquake in the Arab world. The United States, as we wrote on March 23, “wants desperately to position itself on the ‘right’ side” of the unfolding Arab Reawakening and, if possible, to “appropriate to itself a section of the ‘Arab revolt.’” Having found – and helped create – that opportunity in Libya, the Americans and their European co-conspirators rushed in with a reenactment of George Bush’s “Shock and Awe” – a “full spectrum dominance” assault involving hundreds of cruise missiles that reminded even Moammar Gaddafi’s worst enemies that, in the final analysis, Euro-American hegemony means crushing the aspirations of all Arabs in the sand.

As the U.S. discovered in 2003, “Shock and Awe” repels as much as it impresses. Like the Bush Middle East/Western Asia offensive that initially targeted over 30 governments for overthrow (including Libya) but got bogged down in Iraq, Obama and the French and British are in danger of having “reached too far.” Imperialism’s refreshed Obama-face is looking more than ever like a grotesque Halloween mask, and he knows it.

The Americans and their European co-conspirators rushed in with a reenactment of George Bush’s ‘Shock and Awe.’”

The president’s Monday press conference was an effort to reposition the United States, and to readjust his own face to the Arab world. The lull that followed in “coalition” air strikes on Gaddafi forces, which allowed battered Libyan units to retake ground briefly held by the highly disorganized and foreign-dependent rebels, could serve as a means for the U.S. to squeeze the bravado out of the Benghazi-based fighters – a kind of discipline by denial. Despite the West’s boundless praise for these purportedly democratic “freedom fighters,” the imperial plan does not include allowing them – whoever they are – to form a regime with authority over the country. More cautious elements within the Obama administration may have arrived at an accommodation with NATO member Turkey, whose own interests in the region are incompatible with those of the British and French – and, ultimately, the United States.

Obama acknowledged that the all-out assault on Libya too overtly resembles Bush-style regime change: “To be blunt,” he said, “we went down that road in Iraq…. That is not something we can afford to repeat in Libya.” Yet, regime change is a defining privilege of imperialism and, therefore, Obama reiterated that the American position is that Gaddafi must go.

The contradiction, which causes Obama grief in Manifest Destiny America, is exponentially more acute in the midst of the Arab Re-Awakening. The president’s carefully crafted language indicates that Obama hopes to “stabilize” Libya under indirect U.S. dominion through a kind of protectorate involving various “international” entities, on the Haitian model. The key paragraph is:

Gaddafi has not yet stepped down from power, and until he does, Libya will remain dangerous. Moreover, even after Gaddafi does leave power, forty years of tyranny has left Libya fractured and without strong civil institutions. The transition to a legitimate government that is responsive to the Libyan people will be a difficult task. And while the United States will do our part to help, it will be a task for the international community, and – more importantly – a task for the Libyan people themselves.”

Obama hopes to draw an illusory line between his and Bush’s worldviews, that will be palatable to a new an emboldened Arab audience.”

This is not a formula for rule by the Benghazi crowd, whose Islamist elements are indigestible, if not anathema, to U.S. policymakers and image-spinners. It is a rationale for a long, Haiti-like occupation under a compliant United Nations or improvised multi-national façade. Arab nationalism cannot be allowed free rein anywhere, since imperial rule abhors all nationalisms but its own.

Since the campaign days, Obama has struggled to infuse his deceptive rhetoric – which is really all that separates him from Bush – with the language of “Responsibility to Protect,” or R2P. Cloaked in the cynical camouflage of “humanitarian” objectives, Obama hopes to draw an illusory line between his and Bush’s worldviews, that will be palatable to a new an emboldened Arab audience. It is a doomed mission, not only because of the inherent contradictions between Arab aspirations and imperial dominance, but because American rulers are incapable of speaking to a warlike U.S. nationalism and addressing Arab aspirations at the same time. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, the top U.S. diplomat, cannot even maintain the discipline of a consistent lie. She admitted that widespread bloodletting by Gaddafi’s forces was a fantasy and invention:

I know that the nightly news cannot cover a humanitarian crisis that thankfully did not happen, but it is important to remember that many, many Libyans are safer today because the international community took action.”

There was no humanitarian crisis, and it will become increasingly impossible to frame the Euro-American assault in North Africa as anything other than an imperial offensive, designed to keep the Arab world in its place and to usurp African sovereignty over the continent’s resources.

Obama’s “face” is melting.

Ivory Coast also 'Humanitarianly' Attacked by France NATO UN US

France, NATO, UN & US are also attacking another African country [Ivory Coast] for so-called 'humanitarian' reasons - which give them the excuse to support rebel forces vs Pres Gbagbo's Gov't. There was a disputed election there & the UN supports the opposition leader. And those war-mongering women of the O-Bomb-em regime [Billary & Rice-II] as well as O-Bomb-em himself- are using the exact same language that they're using vs Khadaffi ['Gbagbo must go -because history {IE: the US, UN, France, NATO, etc} is not on his side' {for more info on the real nature of the conflict see DemocracyNow!'s Fri April 2nd show & note the African Bro's comments]. These white western forces are attacking Pres Gbagbo forces - even as the rebel forces have the Pres' home surrounded & the Pres himself may be trapped. The entire AU must stop cooperating w AFRICOM & demand that the US, EU [IE: their former white colonial masters], NATO, & the UN stop & desist from these imperialistic attacks in Africa disguised as humanitarianism. No wonder they voted overwhelmingly against UN Res 1973.

The international war-crimes court is NOT for the world powers or their allies. Its is only for African & 3rd World Leaders who the US, EU, UN don't like & have demonized - no matter if they're guilty or if some of these same powers were/are complicit in their crimes [ala Saddam / Rumsfeld & Noriega / Mr CIA Skull{duggery}& Bones- Bush Sr]. NOTE: High level Libyan defectors are going to Scotland, UK & US w so-called insider info on Lockerbie. So They're going to frame Khadaffi a second time for that sham PanAm 103 beef- which will be used to further justify going after him. BUT- Before we buy into the HYPE QUESTION: If these opportunist defectors had any real relevant info why didn't they defect yrs ago w that info?! Why didn't they come forward at the trial in 1999 / 2000 w their evidence??!!

If these folks were true humanitarians [according to Bush & Bliar the Iraqis should be grateful to them for bringing disaster {uhm democracy} to Iraq] they would be far more concerned w the on-going nuke disaster at Fukushima which could turn the sea off of the west coast of Japan radio-active for yrs if not decades, -&- the entire northern half of Japan un-inhabitable for centuries..., - rather than attacking Libya & Ivory Coast - Instead they would be looking for negotiated truces / settlements- spearheaded by the AU.

There's no war like an endless war

What did yall say?  I can't heaaaaar you? McCain would be worse than Obama?  Huh?  Not according to "the facts on the ground."  The Peace Laureate is making Georgie Bush look like a Yale cheerleader.

R2P is nothing more than a plan to divide and conquer or "Balkaznize" African and the Middle East.  I mentioned this over a week ago.  Divide and conquer, as American as applie pie and genocide.

Amazing how the "white gods" who put these countries together are now tearing them apart.  "What  god has joined let no one except the White man tear asunder."

http://www.atimes.com/atimes/Middle_East/MD06Ak01.html

The evidence points otherwise. The first African-American president - a Nobel Peace Prize laureate - now also holds the dubious distinction of being the only American president to launch a war on an African nation. He has also launched his re-election campaign, which is bound to gobble up a cool US$1 billion.

The real reason the US is in Yemen is because the country is supremely strategic - bordering the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden and Saudi Arabia, the key crossroads between the Middle East and the Horn of Africa.

The vicious 2011 Arab counter-revolution keeps working its mysterious ways. Turkey and the BRIC countries are perplexed that the US is now arming the AQIM-infested "rebels" - and may be showering them with juicy bits of the $32 billion in frozen Libyan government assets, plus a share in upcoming oil sales.

Talk about a hot Club Med. Under the Bush administration, al-Qaeda was used as the perfect excuse for bombing and pre-emptive wars. Now, under Obama, al-Qaeda - as in AQIM and AQAP - is being used in the balkanization of selected nations, facilitating the breakdown along tribal, sectarian and criminal lines.

The ghost of Osama bin Laden continues to pull a Cheshire cat. The al-Qaeda franchise is booming like never before. It may even be back in the game in its original status - as a CIA guerrilla army. There's no war like an endless war.

p.s.  Whether it's the End of the Cold War or the Arab Spring, the Anglos in the US and the "West" will NEVER cash in on a peace dividend.  More than 10 years of lies and propaganda about how Arabs needed the barrel of a gun or tank to initiate democratic reform... and just when they prove the White devils wrong, the devils get in a tizzy and resort back to al Qaeda itself to prove their lie. The Devils are lead by a white boy in Black Face, aka Obama.  In my world that's defined as "wicked."

I like his strategy

Personally, I like the strategy Obama has taken with regards to the Libya situation. He's not putting the US in a "guns blazing" war and yet by working with the UN, we are seeing countries that usually stick their head in the sand...actually getting involved...i.e. France! But Obama's bigger worry is getting his country back to work and earning a living for their families.

Escobar writes about Obama lies and hypocrisy

Exposed, above all, is the astonishing hypocrisy of the Obama administration, selling a crass geopolitical coup involving northern Africa and the Persian Gulf as a humanitarian operation. As for the fact of another US war on a Muslim nation, that's just a "kinetic military action".

You invade Bahrain. We take out Muammar Gaddafi in Libya. This, in short, is the essence of a deal struck between the Barack Obama administration and the House of Saud. Two diplomatic sources at the United Nations independently confirmed that Washington, via Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, gave the go-ahead for Saudi Arabia to invade Bahrain and crush the pro-democracy movement in their neighbor in exchange for a "yes" vote by the Arab League for a no-fly zone over Libya - the main rationale that led to United Nations Security Council resolution 1973.

The revelation came from two different diplomats, a European and a member of the BRIC group, and was made separately to a US scholar and Asia Times Online. According to diplomatic protocol, their names cannot be disclosed. One of the diplomats said, "This is the reason why we could not support resolution 1973. We were arguing that Libya, Bahrain and Yemen were similar cases, and calling for a fact-finding mission. We maintain our official position that the resolution is not clear, and may be interpreted in a belligerent manner."

As Asia Times Online has reported, a full Arab League endorsement of a no-fly zone is a myth. Of the 22 full members, only 11 were present at the voting. Six of them were Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) members, the US-supported club of Gulf kingdoms/sheikhdoms, of which Saudi Arabia is the top dog. Syria and Algeria were against it. Saudi Arabia only had to "seduce" three other members to get the vote.

Translation: only nine out of 22 members of the Arab League voted for the no-fly zone. The vote was essentially a House of Saud-led operation, with Arab League secretary general Amr Moussa keen to polish his CV with Washington with an eye to become the next Egyptian President.

Thus, in the beginning, there was the great 2011 Arab revolt. Then, inexorably, came the US-Saudi counter-revolution .

Things that make you go Mmmm.......

If the purpose of the No-Fly Zones was to stop the Col. from "massacering" the rebels, hasn't that succeeded, has not the West demonstrated that they will make it difficult for the Col. to amass his forces in columns and slaughter the so-called rebels?  Haven't they put the fear of "shock and awe" the Col. and shown him the risk of large tank/arsenal advancements?

If that's the case then w/t/f/ is the CIA and Special Ops doing there?  Haven't we now "won" having stopped the "massacre?" Or is this about some other shit?

Weird, while I am being tongue-in-cheek it does, nevertheless demonstrate the rank stupidity, lies and madness of the US and Western Elites and their media sycophants who can't and won't ask such a simple question.

Sort of reminds me of the historial fears Whites have of Blacks in general.  Never mind slavery and chains, whips, castrations, hangings, environmental injustice, mass incarceration, redlining, the ravages of crack and urban renewal "why you scared of me (us)?"  You've been putting your foot in my ass this long, how did I become somebody to "fear?"  Sanctions killed over 350K Iraqi children; that was before the war killed amother million Iraqis , Sadaam and Quaddafi must be a niggas?  Only explanation I can come up with???  After kicking all that ass, severely no less, you still afraid of the Col.?   Things that make you go "Mmmmm."

Enriching the

Enriching the military/corporate/security complex, not fear, is the reason for US warmongering.

U.S. Documents Show Earlier Way for Libyans to Rebel

BY LEE FERRAN
March 31, 2011

Less than four years before Libya's popular opposition movement took up arms and revolted against Moammar Gadhafi with enthusiastic U.S. backing, anti-Gadhafi fighters chose another tactic to hit back at the hated dictator: they joined al Qaeda and tried to kill American soldiers in Iraq, according to U.S. documents.

In 2007 the U.S. Department of Defense snatched more than 600 records of al Qaeda's foreign fighters in Iraq and discovered nearly a fifth of the foreigners were from Libya, according to a report by West Point's Combating Terrorism Center released later that year. Within those records, the total put Libya second only to Saudi Arabia in total fighters and "far and away" the largest provider of foreign fighters per capita to the terrorist organization.

From the comment section:

"The Harmony Project at West Point has given you the facts that will lead to the true nature of Al Qaida. The US/Al Qaida alliance vs Libya shows the CIA/Al Qaida connection in its present incarnation. This has nothing do to with politics or humanity. This is the Central Banks/IMF play for hegemony over the region. Note the first moves: get the oil and destroy the Libyan state bank. Note the new currency. That will tell you who is fighting whom."

Posted by: EthanAllen76 6:47 PM

"I look forward to the day when ABC news does a report on the true nature of Al Qaida. The Report from The Harmony Project of West Point has given ABC (or any other news organization) the tools to see the true workings of the CIA and its terrorists-once-removed. It's now out in the open as we see from the US/Al Qaida alliance in Libya. This has already lead to the take-over of the Libyan state bank and the oil deposits. Party politics are irrelevant. This is the will of the Central Banks, and the rapid move to gain hegemony over the region."

Globalists Target 100% State Owned Central Bank of Libya

http://www.marketoracle.co.uk/Article27208.html

"Eric V. Encina writes: One seldom mentioned fact by western politicians and media pundits: The Central Bank of Libya is 100% State Owned. The world’s globalist financiers and market manipulators do not like it, and would continue their on-going effort to dethrone Muammar Muhammad al-Gaddafi, bringing an end to Libya as an independent nation."

In 2009 Gaddafi Proposed Nationalizing Libya’s Oil

By Kurt Nimmo

March 29, 2011

http://www.infowars.com/in-2009-gaddafi-proposed-nationalizing-libyas-oil/

Banking families like the Rockefellers and Rothschilds own most of the public oil companies. When countries nationalize their oil, these bankers go to war, or at least put you on the list for a future war (Hugo will be next). Various governments are subservient to these same bankers because they also control the central banks of most countries.

Gadhafi:

"We don’t trust the West anymore, so Russia, China and India will be our allies in the oil sector, construction and investments. Should the West revise their positions anyway and admit it was in the wrong and apologize – come and say, “It was my mistake, and the position I’d stuck to was wrong, and I therefore doomed the Security Council to pass the resolution despite my not having understood what was going on in Libya, and what has transpired is not worth this hype” – in this case the West should abolish Resolution 1970.

"If they come and apologize that they were wrong, in this case all good relations can be restored, with economic co-operation in oil production, construction and joint enterprises. They may return, but priority will always be for Russia, China and India." End Quote

There is no doubt in my mind that this (and the 20bn Libyan water project) and the prospect of setting up a foreign central bank (which they did) caused the globalists to strong arm Gadhafi.

What Is Your Solution

You have a strong opinion on this.  It's fair, because we should always express concerns to ensure that progess is being made.  What I would like to ask you, is what evidence do you have that there is in fact NO humanitarian crisis in Libya?  Let's "pretend" if you will that - that there IS.  What do you think the US position should be?  I don't think that President Obama is an unethical man with some plot to......do what? What would he gain or lose - in your opinion by taking on this crisis (as if we don't have enough to deal with)?  Now, don't start up on me with comparisons to Darfur - I have enough of that argument to last a lifetime.  What I want to know is if what is being done now is NOT the best thing to do, then what do you think is?

Outside Powers Military Intervention no Answer to Human Crisises

Is there NOW a humanitarian problem in Libya - Of course -as is always the case in war [but its note-worthy that Libya under Khadaffi has/had the highest standard of living in all of Africa, as well a some of the best health-care & highest literacy rate for both men & women in the African / Arab world(s]. But I could name dozens of countries where the crisis is as big or if not much bigger - & the US / UN / EU / Canada, etc ain't done jack - except fake like they are doing something good while often making the problems worse behind the scenes [IE: Haiti, Honduras, Gaza, etc]. Just how do you protect people from being bombed by dropping even bigger bombs on them - often tipped w Radioactive Depleted Uranium?! Pres O-Bomb-em & the EU / UN could have backed the African Union [AU] & the Arab League [AL] in spear-heading negotiations for a truce / cease-fire [negotiated settlement]- except the rebels flatly turned down such an offer by Pres Chavez [IE: they didn't want a truce] while demanding that the US / UK / France / Italy [see the movie 'Lion of the Desert' w Anthony Quinn to see how the Italians devastated Libya {& Ethiopia} in the 1st half of the 1900s] & NATO impose a so-called humanitarian no-fly zone [which is providing cover for them to counter-attack Khadaffi's forces] which the AL backed [w only half of it members present & Syria & Algeria voting no & the AU over-whelmingly voted against] even as the Regimes in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain & Yemen were / are gunning down real 'unarmed' protesters. And its telling that  there hasn't been a mumbling word from Mr Peace-prize O-Bomb-em or the UN Sec Gen on the rebels back-lash on Black Africans in Libya- including even Black LIBYANS as alleged Khadaffi mercenaries- even though supposedly Obama's just 1 generation removed from being a Kenyan himself [but then he ain't done much for US Blacks even though we support him over-whemingly].

But its becoming clearer that US / UK / French & NATO were secretly involved in this rebellion against Khadaffi all the time [IE this was a setup just like they set him up for that sham PanAM 103 beef].

Real Humanitarian Intervention [or non-intervention as the case may be]- is almost never military intervention [especially by outside powers in a civil war / regional conflict]- But Rather Seeks to address conflicts via negotiated cease-fire / truces & negotiated settlements -.Including: Not selling arms [period] & supporting evil / vicious / tyrannical regimes [while often white-washing them as freedom-loving / democratic or moderate- in the process]...

But rather giving people food &/or the means to be self-sufficient in food, health & other necessities for development which truly benefits the people [& if that means to hell w WTO, IMF, NAFTA, GATT, etc - SO BE IT].

And not over-throwing [or attempting to overthrow] & even killing popularly / constitutionally elected Gov'ts / Leaders who are trying to help their people IE: Aristide, Chavez, Zelaya [there is an ongoing vicious crack down {since the 2009 US backed coup- on Obama & Billary's watch} on the people of Honduras by those who helped over-throw the duly elected & constitutional Pres Zelaya - but ain't nobody said a word about it - let alone threatened military intervention], Allende, Nkruma, Lumumba, Arbenz, Mossadegh, etc- just because they are not seen as being totally in-line w [IE: just bend over & touch their toes for] US / Western geo-politrickal / Corp interests.

Not-declaring economic warfare on nations just because you don't like their Gov't / leaders IE: Libya, Zimbabwe, Iran, Iraq, Cuba, etc. And not destroying countries' Econs by imposing so-called 'free-trade'  agreements / neo-liberal so-called 'reforms' via WTO, IMF, World-Bank, NAFTA, CAFTA, GATT, etc.

It is this type of real humanitarian intervention [or non-intervention] that the US [now headed by O-Bomb-em] & the EU / West could have backed- if they were really peace-loving humanitarians. But O-Bomb-em, Billary, Rice{squared), etc aren't looking for a fair negotiated settlement - They want regime change. Because they've all insisted that Khadaffi must go - or else 'All options are on the table'... [meaning they'll keep bombing & backing further military intervention]. And let there be no doubt - except for mere skin-color [& perhaps oratory skills] Pres O-Bomb-em bears no resemblance what so-ever to a true humanitarian & man of peace [IE: Rev Dr ML-King] nor a real champion for Black / African / Islamic people [IE: Malcolm X]. He has far more in common w Bush / Cheney / those war-mongering Rice girls, Billary, etc [he's even related to the Bushes, Cheney, Maggie Thatcher, Sarah Palin, & several other US Pres- by blood- via his white momma].

If Obama [O-Bomb-em] is such a humanitarian why didn't he impose a moratorium on deep sea oil-drilling after last yr's BP Gulf oil disaster- which is on going - but which he, BP, & the Corp controlled Gov't {both Dims & Repugs}& MSNM media have helped to down-play & cover-up as much as possible??!! And why did he appoint 2 of the 5 men most responsible for Haiti's misery over the past 2-3 decades [IE: Slick Willie & George Water-board Jr] to spear-head the US' phony relief efforts in Haiti in the wake of the quake- & why did he allow that murderous Baby Doc to come back to Haiti while almost having a conniption when Pres Aristide [whom both Bushes Sr & Jr helped over-throw] returned??!! If Pres O-Bomb-em is such an humanitarian why won't he announce a moratorium on nuke power in the wake of the on-going Fukushima catastrophy??!!

No wonder they call them "spooks"

I'm talking about the CIA .... this time.. anyway.

"No US boots on the ground!" bellow the bloodthirsty sociopaths of the Administration; but that doesn't include CIA/Special Forces operatives.  Know we know why they spooks, because you don't see em, they "exist only in your mind."  lol

The BOTTOM LINE despite all the crowing and chestbeating, they can't disloge the Col. without a stepped up US/NATO involvement including boots on the ground. So we go from sweet lovable humanitarian, the noble Bwana, to taking sides in a civil war.  To call that an interesting development is an understatement.

I can't help but feel abject disgust listening to Americans talk delusionally on NPR as I am doing now.  Americans have to be amongst the sickest people on the planet.  These people (our so-called leaders, media class, intellectual class) actually believe their lies and duplicity in their little dark hearts of hearts, feelings of superiority is the only logical conclusion as to why.  They have no idea how sick and wicked they are, it's almost sad.  The world is going down the shitter and these ants think they running shit. They think they are so smart, when every move the "best and the brightest" have made ultimately fucked up the world.  They are prisoners of their own mental delusions, and we are fellow inmates on the same cell block for the mentally ill.

Chomsky on Obama's "humanitarian" war/Libya new on Znet

www.zcommunications.org/znet    An interview. In print. Zinger right near the start: test of sincerity of "humanitarian" war.   I always enjoy it when he's commenting on the current U.S, gov't "actions" and then puts it in context of long view of history.

"Legitamate government"?

A few malcontents rise up and Obama declares an entire government illegitamate. We hear that Khadadffy's a thug, but specifics we hearnothing about. We simply assume that becasue we've always been told thathe's a "thug" that he must be one. And we all know that the prison sate called America is one of the most illegitamate governments thats ever existed. The very fact that Iowa and New Hampshire basically choose our candidates is only one example of many proving that democracy in America is a sham at best.

If their lips are moving, they're probably lying

Can't help but recall Gulf War I when there were reports of Saddam's troops pulling infants out of incubators. Turned out that a PR firm planted the stories.  The linked article notes that "The more television people watched, the fewer facts they knew; and the less people knew in terms of basic facts, the more likely they were to back the Bush administration."

Interesting. Maybe we should throw out our TVs and just read BAR everyday.

So I wonder about the woman who was supposedly raped by Gaddafi's troops. Stories like that even effect and old cynic like me. But did it actually happen? Has the woman disappeared because she told the truth or because she already served her purpose? Isn't rape one of the reasons that "war is hell" and why sane people oppose even "just" wars? Has the fact that some American troops have been convicted raping children and setting up kill teams suggest that our president is a thug? Has the fact that American military men have been accused of raping their own female soldiers make them a bunch of thugs and madmen?

It's hard to believe anything the media says.

Hey!

As an Iowan I resemble that.  LOL

Point taken very well, it's good for the economy though.

Frankly, they could start the "primaries" in the Ozarks and we'd get the same duopoly.

But your right, that's why I refer to America as a "failed state."  I hope like hell that the Russians and Chinese will one day find it in their hearts to do a little humanitarian intervention for the States.

We have Wall St. and Congresional thugs instead of Latin American Caudillos and Middle Eastern Sheiks,  Eastern European Mafia, or African Dictators.  But a rose is a rose is a rose, .... right?

Beautiful, GF. Some of the lines could be set to music....

The  illustration using Obama's face posted with the commentary needs an artist credit, please. It is really fine.
