Zimmerman Defense Engages in “Racist Bullying”

“They’re trying to put together a scenario that paints Trayvon as the aggressor” the night that George Zimmerman shot the teenager dead, said Carl Dix, of the Stop Mass Incarceration Network. The defense in the televised murder trial, in Sanford, Florida, has engaged in “a certain white supremacist condescension and bullying” of witness Rachel Jeantel, the young woman who was on the phone with Trayvon Martin during his fatal encounter with Zimmerman. “They’re playing into a certain white dislike and fear of an angry Black person, where the sister had a right to be angry, because she was being mistreated on the stand,” said Dix.

Lynne Stewart: Keep Up the Pressure

People’s lawyer Lynne Stewart, battling Stage Four breast cancer in her fourth year of a ten-year prison sentence for zealously defending her client in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, vows to continue her fight for compassionate release. The head of the U.S. Bureau of Prisons rejected her plea, claiming Stewart’s health was “improving.” “They are lying,” said Ralph Poynter, Stewart’s husband and comrade in activism. “There as been no improvement in the cancer in her lungs. They didn’t talk about her diabetes, they didn’t talk about her inability to move around” and her low white blood cell count. Poynter will lead demonstrations in New York and resume a vigil, in Washington. “I’m going to start building a fire in front of this White House,” he vowed – in line with Stewart’s wishes.

Snowden’s Gift to the World

If Ecuador or another country grants NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden asylum, “the whole world will benefit, because some of the revelations are that the U.S. is spying on civilians all over the world,” said Mark Weisbrot, co-director of the Washington-based Center for Economic and Policy Research. “Snowden is fleeing political persecution, and Ecuador takes that very seriously.” Might the U.S. try to seize Snowden from sanctuary? “No, I don’t think so,” said Weisbrot. “There’s a lot of public support for what he did here in the United States, and most of the world sees him as a hero.”

U.S. Revs Up for Another Mideast War

Citing an “Emergency situation,” the United National Anti-War Coalition, UNAC, has called for National Days of Action against U.S, NATO and Israeli attacks on Syria, from now through July 17. “We need to keep working to keep the United States from starting a whole new war,” said UNAC’s Marilyn Levin. Washington is attempting to stage a replay of the “humanitarian” attack on Libya and the WMD-justified war on Iraq. “This is just phony,” said Levin, referring to U.S. claims that the Syrian government has used chemical weapons. “They always have to have a pretext.”

The West’s Crusade Against Mugabe

The U.S. is unrelentingly hostile to President Robert Mugabe’s government in Zimbabwe because Washington “opposes the very idea of political and economic independence in Africa,” said political analyst Eric Draitser, founder of the web site Mugabe and his ZANU-PF party “have really begun to exercise this independence” with a land redistribution program that has replaced 6,000 white landholders with 245,000 Black farmers, he said. Zimbabwe hold elections at the end of July. The West backs Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai’s Movement for Democratic Change, which Draiter called “the mouthpiece of the United States and the British,” the former colonial ruler.

Obama Finally Names Special Africa Envoy

Back in 2006, then-Senator Barack Obama won passage of his only significant piece of legislation, to prevent further destabilization of eastern Congo by its neighbors. The bill called for the appointment, within 60 days, of a U.S. Special Representative for the Great Lakes Region and the Democratic Republic of Congo. But President Obama only last month got around to naming former Democratic senator Russ Feingold to fill the job. “Although it is overdue, we are pleased that he has finally appointed this individual,” said Jacques Bahati, of the Africa Faith and Justice Network, in Washington, DC. “I suspect that the “Rwandan lobby” and “special interests” cause the delay, said Bahati.

Economic and land use issues aside, Mugabe is a pretty horrible human being.
Someone who refers to gay folks as "pigs and dogs" has no place at the table of humanity. One hundred years from now, history will rightly record him as part of the problem.

“We reject [gay marriage] outright and say to hell with you.

“You, David Cameron, are you suggesting that you don’t know that or is it some kind of insanity or part of the culture of Europeans.

“In their newspapers, that’s one of my sins. That I called [gays] worse than pigs and dogs because pigs know there are males and females.

“I won’t even call him a dog because my own dog will complain and say, but what have I done? It’s even in the Bible that you create through the system of marrying. That’s how we were born, so we reject that outright and say, to hell with you.

“You are free as a man to marry a woman and that is what we follow. That’s what produced you and me. This kind of insanity is now part of the culture.”

Well as important an issue as

Well as important an issue as I'm sure gay marriage is, it's not a priority human rights issue when half the world's population lives in abject poverty, while a small 20% lives in abundance off the wealth it loots from them.

I'd say that 20% has no place at the table of humanity since it has done so much to harm the 80%. That's the history that will prevail and be remembered

Kiss teet

I agree. I would only add that Mugabe will be part of that 20%.

Mugabe's services to the 80%, ie the siezure and restoration of land stolen by whites to its rightful owners, make him much more welcome among them than say gay marriage advocates whom we can't credit as the catalyst for any change that has had such a liberating impact in the experience of any mass of black Africans.

But it's all good, I guess I care more about the well being of my impoverished African Brethren and Sistren than gay marriage. Your greatest concern is gay marriage. Good for you.

I'm sure.

No justice No Peace.

Trayvon Martin courtroom dynamics

Everyone associated with support of Trayvon Martin in that courtroom--his witness, Ms. Jeantel, and the prosecution attorney--have less agency in that courtroom than those who represent the defense. Defense asks leading questions, but objects when Prosecution does. SPD witnesses hostile to Prosecution Attorney.
Excruciatingly painful lesson in the corruption of that police dept. and how white supremacy operates. Unbelievable that there is not one person of African descent on that jury. Ms. Jeantel is the only witness who is not circumstantial. Excellent essay on her treatment in courtroom in Salon:

Other Good Articles RE Ms Jeantel's Testimony & Mistreatment

by Lame-Stream Media Talking-Head Presstitues:

First a sample of the 'Lame-stream / Liberal' view from the CS Monitor &  Yahoo-News: "Trayvon Martin case: How Rachel Jeantel went from star witness to ‘train wreck’

Now 2 of the best counter-responses: @ Slate: ‘Rachel Jeantel Gets the Trayvon Martin Treatment’ [@

and from DaveyD's Hip-Hop corner: 'A Few Thoughts About Being on the Witness Stand and Rachel Jaentel'  [@ ]

The Key Points that Ms Jeantel has Testified to:  While talking on the phone to her, Trayvon said "a man's following me"

- He told her that the guy looked like a 'creepy ass cracker.'

- Trayvon then told Ms Jeantel that he was going to try to "lose the man." & hurry back to his dad's home.

-. A short while later, he tells her "this nigga's still following me."

- She told Trayvon to run & she started hearing wind. He told her he was going to get home "through the back way."

- Trayvon tells her that he's almost home. She can hear he's out of breath. He tells her that he "lost" the man following him.

- But shortly there-after he says "Oh shit, the nigga's behind me."

- She hears the exchange between Z-Man & Trayvon w Trayvon saying: "Why are you following me for?" & then Ms Jeantel heard a "hard-breathing" Z-Man say: "What you doing around here?"

- She then heard a bump & grass sounds, like they were rolling around &/or the phone dropped on the ground. She asked Trayvon what's going on & she heard Trayvon saying "get off, get off." Then the phone shut off... {

The trial as revealed at-least the 3rd [or even 4th] major LIE that Z-Man has told, & been caught in, RE his deadly encounter w Trayvon. Lie No.1} That Trayvon ambushed him while he was approaching his car to re-enter it. - Even without Ms Jeantel's testimony- Just from the crime-scene layout it's obvious that the spot where Z-Man gunned down Trayvon is nowhere near where his car should have been parked.

Lie No. 1.5 - 2} With Ms Jeantel's testimony, in combo w Z-man's 9-11 call, it's obvious Z-Man stalked after / pursued & then  started a confrontation w Trayvon who was trying to escape from him, NOT Vice-Versa! That's why so many FOX Noise type red-white & blue 'Good Ole Boy's' [& girls] are dissing Ms Jeantel, so they can have an excuse to disregard her testimony.

Lie No. 3} Z-man & his wife telling the judge that they had NO funds to pay for his bail NOR an attny - When they had in fact had collected at-least $125,000 - $150,000 specifically for his defense.

Lie No. 4} It has come out in the trial that Z-man said that when he shot Trayvon, who he claims was sitting on his chest, Trayvon fell backwards onto his back & then Z-man pulled Trayvon's arms apart spread-eagle looking for a weapon. - But the crime scene investigator says & her pictures show, Trayvon lying face-down w his arms under his body. This is of-course another major discrepancy!

Another key point to come out- Z-man had been taking mixed martial arts training since 2011. Thus its possible that Z-man may have gotten those small scratches to his face from a prior MMA training session.

Thanks for summarizing

Thanks for summarizing those points. The defense attorneys so obviously look for any means to subvert intended meaning by witnesses.  Painful & exasperating to behold. I do wonder whether the Prosecution was rushed in terms of witness prep.
