The Democrats in Charlotte deserve the president they nominate. They are union members with no self-respect, African Americans who ask nothing for their own people, “anti-war” folks who oppose only Republican wars – and the fat cats who profit from it all. “Romney has no room to criticize Obama because Obama is now the war monger in chief, with the body count to prove it.”

Freedom Rider: Democrats Show Their True Colors

by BAR editor and senior columnist Margaret Kimberley

Barack Obama and the Democrats are not the lesser of two evils, they are the more effective evil.”

If right wing Republican ideology didn’t exist, it would have to be invented. The blatant racism, bizarre shrillness, and appeals to patriarchy and misogyny are easily condemned. Attacking the Republican Party isn’t at all difficult, it is in fact a bit like shooting fish in a barrel. It isn’t surprising that an African American camerawoman was taunted and humiliated by Republicans at their recent convention. The Republicans have been working for decades to make themselves the party of, by, and for white people.

Republican racism and right wing extremism mean that the Democrats get credit for doing nothing or even for acting like Republicans. Their convention is being held in Charlotte, North Carolina, a city without one unionized hotel, and little wonder, North Carolina is a right to work state with the lowest rate of union workers in the country. The absence of outrage over the choice of Charlotte as the convention venue is proof positive of the ideological bankruptcy of the Democratic Party and the cowardice of its supporters.

The Republicans have been working for decades to make themselves the party of, by, and for white people.”

As if the choice of Charlotte weren’t bad enough, an anti teachers union movie, Won’t Back Down, was shown at a convention event after being vetted by Democratic Party leadership. Michelle Rhee, the face of teacher union busting and the destruction of public education, appeared on a panel at the film’s screening. Rhee told the harsh and ugly truth about the way the Democrats are treating teacher unions. “There is no longer sort of some assumed alliance between the Democratic Party and the teacher’s unions.”

If teachers and other unions had any self-respect, they would boycott the convention altogether. Instead they will be front and center, proclaiming their love for a party that never passes up an opportunity to stab them in the back.

Barack Obama and the Democrats are not the lesser of two evils, they are the more effective evil, and their convention coronation proves it. They have the benefit of running against a Republic candidate who made a fortune by putting thousands of people out of work and who brags about it. While Democrats do not openly talk about putting Social Security and Medicare on the budget cutting table, the Republican vice presidential candidate makes eliminating Medicare his claim to fame.

Residents of Afghanistan and Pakistan will be the victims of American drone attacks whether the president inaugurated in January is named Obama or Romney.

The Democrats are once again committing the perfect crime. They present themselves as the friend of working people and as the defenders against racism, misogyny and homophobia. While a black camera operator will probably not have to fear being humiliated by Democrats, the residents of Afghanistan and Pakistan will not be so lucky. They will be the victims of American drone attacks whether the president inaugurated in January is named Obama or Romney.

Obama’s nominating speech will no doubt be better than Romney’s. There will be no strange decision to let an old actor give a rambling speech. The evils of Bain capital will be exposed to the world, but Obama would have agreed to a back room budget deal with Republicans if vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan and other Republican congressional leaders hadn’t scuttled his plans.

The activists who opposed war during the Bush administration can’t seem to find their voices now. Instead they criticize Mitt Romney because he didn’t “mention” wars in his convention speech. It isn’t clear what these critics wanted to hear. Were they once again anti-war or had they already dropped those convictions once a Democrat became president? In any case, Romney has no room to criticize Obama because Obama is now the war monger in chief, with the body count to prove it.

Were they once again anti-war or had they already dropped those convictions once a Democrat became president?”

Little children with abusive parents can be forgiven if they don’t know how to break free from their victimizers. Adults who claim to lead others have no such excuse. The union leaders, and the peace activists and all other progressives in the Charlotte convention hall should walk out in protest but they won’t. They won’t because their convictions aren’t really any better than Obama’s. They want to belong more than they want to be right.

Obama is the more effective evil because he is enabled by Democrats who are either afraid of their own shadows or who are as bad as he is. They should know that making the case for their demands, indeed having demands at all, is the sure path to political victory. But they don’t want political victory. They just want someone who is part of their crowd to get the top job. Too many people in the Democratic base are effectively evil too.

Is it my imagination or has Ms. Kimberly been gone for a while? Another great article.Very illuminating.  I didn't know about the unions in NC. Obamas union busting and his war in Afpak are utterly disgusting.

From what I have read on this site as written by Glen would seem that Obama is complicit in the deaths of more Africans than any US President in recent history....

The Butchering of Gaddafi Is America’s Crime

by BAR executive editor Glen Ford

“Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton appeared like ghoulish despots at a Roman Coliseum, reveling in their Libyan gladiators’ butchery.”

Last week the whole world saw, and every decent soul recoiled, at the true face of NATO’s answer to the Arab Spring. An elderly, helpless prisoner struggled to maintain his dignity in a screaming swirl of savages, one of whom thrusts a knife [4] up his rectum. These are Europe and America’s jihadis in the flesh. In a few minutes of joyously recorded bestiality, the rabid pack undid every carefully packaged image of NATO’s “humanitarian” project in North Africa – a horror and revelation indelibly imprinted on the global consciousness by the brutes’ own cell phones.

Nearly eight months of incessant bombing by the air forces of nations that account for 70 percent of the world’s weapons spending, all culminating in the gang-bang slaughter of Moammar Gaddafi, his son Mutassim and his military chief of staff, outside Sirte. The NATO-armed bands then displayed the battered corpses for days in Misurata – the city that had earlier made good on its vow to “purge Black skin” through the massacre and dispersal of 30,000 darker residents of nearby Tawurgha – before disposing of the bodies in an unknown location.

THOUSANDS OUT OF WORK VS THOUSANDS MURDERED.  The "lesser of two evils" is still evil.  Personally..I'd rather lose my job than lose my life.  Unfortunately..the thousands of men, women and children murdered in Libya did not have a choice. Romney or Obama?  I will vote for neither.

Most blacks just want revenge for racism

Submitted by nfamous on Wed, 09/05/2012 - 15:18.

I'm black myself but what I see from black Democrats is no longer a call for justice for all people but just being able to pull the strings of injustice. Most of us no longer care about the morality of what we believe in as long as we're given a share of the white man's power. We wish to turn the tables on centuries of white racism and dethrone the white man to take his place at the helm of the imperial realm. Two wrongs don't make a right. Blacks have lost their way and become mired in the amoral stance of white supremacy, except with a blackface. God is not happy. Each of us supporting Obama will have to atone for doing so because the effect of that cause is the suffering and death of millions of innocents around the world who we care absolutely nothing about even when we go to church and proclaim the very opposite in our hypocritical Jesus lackeyism. Black supremacy is not the answer to white supremacy. Black power is. If you want to get back at whites for what they have done to us and still do to us then you have no idea what Jesus really taught. We can defend ourselves without going on the offensive like Europe has done all over the world.

Need to be more constructive and investigate for the truth

Well I am a James Taylor guy and don't see or feel about most blacks feeling that way.  I think what is going on in the world as bad as it is will join more people together but its a very big price.  This country can't save the world and trying to be an empire and also a nation is shown in history to not have a good end.  I wish more people would watch documentaries like 10 trillion and counting done by PBS and see what has happened and what the president is dealing with.  It is time to pull back and save ourselves so we can continue saving at least what we can.  We are into a terrible situation of more people in this world than we can feed and soon there will be mass starvation.  Water rights are being purchased by foreign companies and locking wells in poor countries because of their corrupt government and people don't have the money to pay for clean water.  The world bank has been kicked out of south America finally but not in other poor parts of the world because they will keep you poor.  The president has appointed a better person to the world bank but the republicans block/delay every nomination he makes.  There is constant killing and fighting over diamonds and now gold because of the high price.  As far as people getting arms; if you have money, you will find them.

but the republicans

but the republicans block/delay every nomination he makes.

Maybe he shouldnt have supported Blue Dog Candidates instead of known Progressive candidates in 2010... Kendrick Meeks... Ring a bell ??  There were a few others..when he still had the majority..

Maybe he would have the support he needs to get things through....Or maybe he used that as a bit of Pass /Interference so he could always fall back on the old reliable EXCUSE...

"  The Republicans are Blocking my initiatives...."

Yet at everyturn he wants to show Bi Partisanship..... GTFOH
