What "Sanctions" Will Happen If Syrian "Rebels" Are Shown To Have Used Poison Gas?

A Black Agenda Radio Commentary by BAR managing editor Bruce A. Dixon

Outside the reality-distorting bubble of US corporate media, almost nobody believes the Syrian regime are the only ones who have sarin gas in that unhappy country, but the rebels are not included in its inspections protocols or threatened sanctions. And while the Syrian regime gets six months to dispose of all chemical weapons, why does the US need ten years to get rid of its own stockpile?

Freedom Rider: American Hell for Syria

by BAR editor and senior columnist Margaret Kimberley

With the imminent attack on Syria, Barack Obama prepares to add to his personal legacy of illegal wars based entirely on lies. The corporate media will eagerly sell the newest U.S. aggression, starting with the absurd premise that Syria would launch a chemical attack “when it is winning the war fomented by the United States, NATO, Israel, Saudi Arabia and other gulf monarchies.”

Obama’s Mideast Policy Burns

by BAR executive editor Glen Ford

The U.S. believes it can manipulate jihadi fighters in a holy war against the West’s enemies in the Muslim world. However, “Israel’s murderous assault on Gaza threatens to unravel the Salafist-Qatari-Saudi-NATO axis, for one simple and irreducible reason: there is no place for the racist settler state in this post-Arab Spring equation.”

A Year Later, the War in Libya is Far from Over

by Horace Campbell

The death of the U.S. ambassador in Libya revealed the extent of CIA involvement in Libya. The “agency was not merely conducting covert surveillance on the Islamists based in eastern Libya, but providing them with direct aid and coordinating their operations with the current war in Syria.” Chickens and other varmints are coming home to roost. “The US had fed the al-Qa'ida scorpion and now it had bitten America.”

Human Rights and Humanitarian Imperialism in Syria: A View From an African American Defender of Human Rights

By Ajamu Baraka

iiWho is killing whom in Syria and why? And to whom should we be listening ---- to our corporate media, State Department, and the same corps of “human rights activists” who applauded the Western invasion of Libya, and the dispatch of US special forces to Africa?

The Imperialists and the Jihadis: The Evil Alliance Against Syria

A Black Agenda Radio commentary by Glen Ford

Americans are now programmed to lust for Syrian blood, just as they lusted for Libyan blood, Iraqi blood, Afghan blood – whatever the demonized blood-of-the-day. It is easy for such voracious consumers of gore to project bloodlust on others, even when, as with the Syrian regime, there is no motive for the crime. “It makes absolutely no sense for the Syrian regime to allow the slitting of children’s throats while United Nations observers are stationed throughout the country.” The modus operandi and motive for the crime point to al Qaida and other jihadis – and their various U.S., European and rich Arab backers.

Bragging About Killing Osama bin Laden: Old Blowbacks and New

A Black Agenda Radio commentary by Glen Ford

President Obama, like the joker in the White House before him, owes Osama bin Laden for making him appear sufficiently lethal-minded. But it was U.S. the alliance with Islamic Jihad in Afghanistan that, ultimately, made “Osama bin Laden became, arguably, the most recognizable face on the planet.” Then came the “blowback,” when the “Americans found they could not control the Islamic forces they had unleashed.” The U.S. once again aligns itself with jihadis against Syria – and another blowback is coming.

Obama’s Proliferating Wars: Empire on Full Throttle Offensive

A Black Agenda Radio commentary by Glen Ford

President Obama is leading a general imperial offensive around the globe, and “were it not for the Russian and Chinese vetoes at the United Nations Security Council, the U.S. and its allies would by now have declared the city of Homs or some other parts of Syria as areas to be ‘protected’ by U.S.-led air forces.” History will record Obama as “a man of war – many wars.

Lesson of the Arab Counter-Revolution: Syria Must Allow No Benghazis

A Black Agenda Radio commentary by Glen Ford

The Arab Spring was not allowed to get very far before the Arab Counter-Revolution pounced, first on Libya, now on Syria, to reconfigure the region by military means and, thus, make it safe for the various members of the imperial club. The Americans and their European and Arab allies are seeking Syrian territory to place under their “humanitarian” shield – a “liberated” city like Libya’s Benghazi for them to “defend.”
