White House Plans Sham Jobs Forum

White House Plans Sham Jobs Forum
by BAR executive editor Glen Ford
The administration is determined to keep spending down, now that Wall Street has already gotten its trillions.”
Don’t expect anything meaningful from next month’s White House Forum on Jobs. In announcing the December event, a noncommittal – even reluctant-looking – President Obama said it was the government’s “obligation to consider every additional responsible step we can” to deal with joblessness, officially standing at 10.2 percent overall and 15.7 percent for Blacks. There was the palpable sense that the Administration felt bum-rushed by congressional Democrats who are beginning to panic at their prospects for re-election during a jobless recovery-for-the-rich.
On the heels of the initial announcement, the White House felt compelled to narrow the forum’s scope and tamp down expectations among the Democratic base. The event would not be an occasion to discuss a second stimulus package, said an Obama aid. The president was telling the Left, Don’t even think about a big, new jobs program, it ain’t happening. For Obama’s soul mates in the finance capitalist class, the clarification was reassurance that the administration is determined to keep spending down, now that Wall Street has already gotten its trillions.
Although the double-edged message from the White House was quite clear, the most prominent voices in civil rights and labor chose to pretend they hadn’t gotten the drift. Obama should act to “directly create jobs that put people to work helping communities meet pressing needs, especially in distressed communities facing severe unemployment,” said a joint statement by the leaders of the NAACP, the National Council of La Raza, the AFL-CIO, the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights, the Economic Policy Institute, and the Center for Community Change.
There was the palpable sense that the Administration felt bum-rushed by congressional Democrats who are beginning to panic at their prospects for re-election during a jobless recovery-for-the-rich.”
Diehard Obamites, with only their own wishful thinking as a guide, still cling to the notion that the president secretly longs to be forced to come to the aid of workers and people of color. If they beg respectfully enough, and withhold judgment on the administration’s actual record and behavior long enough, it is fervently believed that the president will hear the voices of his better angels.
But Obama has already baldly stated his views on targeted aid to Black America and other “distressed communities facing severe unemployment.” Back on April 29, at the president’s “first 100 days” press conference, BET reporter Andre Showell used very similar language to ask Obama’s intentions regarding Black unemployment that was, “as you know, in the double digits.” Showell phrased his inquiry, this way:
My question to you tonight is given this unique and desperate circumstance, what specific policies can you point to that will target these communities and what's the timetable for us to see tangible results?”
Obama responded with a version of the old canard that a “rising tide lifts all boats”:
So my general approach is that if the economy is strong, that it will lift all boats as long as it is also supported by, for example, strategies around college affordability and job training, tax cuts for working families as opposed to the wealthiest that level the playing field and ensure bottom-up economic growth.”
The six civil rights and labor organizations seem not to take their president seriously.”
Obama is philosophically opposed to targeted programs that might directly impact on Black unemployment, and he has served notice he will entertain no proposals at the Jobs Forum for a new, general economic stimulus. But the six civil rights and labor organizations seem not to take their president seriously. What is certain is that Obama will not take them seriously as long as their mild-mannered requests are unaccompanied by credible threats to his administration’s and party’s political health.
The Six Petitioners, if I may call them that, also “urgently call for” extended unemployment benefits, “substantial fiscal relief to state and local governments,” new investment in infrastructure, expanded public service jobs, and transfer of Wall Street “troubled asset” bailout money to small businesses that would likely create jobs. Of these, only extended jobless benefits and token aid to small business stand a chance of garnering meaningful support from the White House. And Democrats in Congress will not move decisively without the president’s approval.
What Obama appears to be planning for December is a talk-fest designed to give the impression that his White House is an honest broker seeking consensus solutions to a national jobless crisis that requires both “new ideas” and “cherished values” – and other such nonsense. Even Obama had difficulty summoning up enthusiasm for the charade, when announcing the event. The First Black President’s empty diversions no longer hold his own attention.

Surprise, surprise, the stimulus $ is going to the burbs

Are Minorities Getting Enough Out of the Stimulus?
By Tim Padgett / Miami Monday, Nov. 23, 200

"To Gihan Perera, that's just one example of how federal and state governments are missing a great opportunity to use the stimulus to aid the poor and minority communities hardest hit by the Great Recession. Perera, director of the nonprofit Miami Workers Center (MWC), is among a number of antipoverty activists closely examining which communities and contractors are getting stimulus dollars, and so far he says the picture doesn't look bright for already marginalized "low-opportunity" zones and minority-owned firms. The lion's share of road and other construction work in Florida has gone to venues like airports and new highways that usually benefit more affluent suburbs, Perera argues. And as of September, less than 10% of the $330 million in stimulus projects awarded directly from federal agencies to Florida-based contractors had gone to minority-owned firms, according to a study by the MWC, the Kirwan Institute at Ohio State University and the Research Institute on Social and Economic Policy (RISEP) at Miami's Florida International University. In all, black-owned firms received less than 2%. "The fear," says Perera, "is that the stimulus money could instead serve to exacerbate the inequalities that existed before."  (Mmmm...sort of like the bankster bailout that has created larger "to-big-to-fail" institutions than existed bf the trumped up crisis)

That's not just a concern for the Sunshine State, which now has one of the nation's highest jobless and home-foreclosure rates. Earlier this year, the Associated Press found that across the U.S., the stimulus plan was "set to spend 50% more per person in areas with the lowest unemployment than it will in communities with the highest."

Powell thinks it's only fair that more stimulus money finds its way to minority communities, since much of today's economic disaster can be traced to those areas being lavished with subprime mortgages. Despite recovery.org, the federal website designed for tracing stimulus outlays, Powell argues, "We need to put how this is playing out under a larger magnifying glass, make it more transparent." If not, he warns, "we'll have the irony of the first black President presiding over the greatest economic restructuring in decades, but it could actually end up worsening the racial disparity."

The so-called Black President has turned out to be quite regressive it appears.  Anyone with an ounce of commom sense could have predicted this.  I warned from the outset that "shovel-ready" means the big, white boys, the Associated General Contractor types who have lodged the seminal attacks on affirmative action,--Richmond v. Croson, and Adarand.

Ironically, a few months ago I get a call from a Dept. of Labor bureacrat in Chicago Regional Office.  She's telling me that many large white contractors in Iowa were non-compliant in terms of women and minority hiring goals and wanted my insights.  I told her what she already found out which was there were no training mechanisms in place (a fact which undercuts the noncompliance argument,-- you can't hire from a non-existing pool).  Of course 3 weeks later (after I had identified and started networking with some folks desiring to offer free skill-trades training) when I inquired via email about Dept. of Labor training/education grants/opportunities, I received no reply.
Obviously a great do-nothing job as a GS-12, and concomittant with a do-nothing President.

I wonder wtf she put down on the little ol reporting form as she continued her task of making empty telephone calls to discover what a 6th grade level of investigation would have informed them from the outset.

Welcome to "Change you can Believe" in, that is if you can believe that a "Black" President can be as regressive as the former "Black" President who authored NAFTA, CAFTA, the "free trade," and damn near doubled the Black Prison population, creating more than 40 new federal crimes.

Are the Kool-Aid somnabulists finally awakening, or will they continue to provide cover for the regressive change agent?  Or is it a fact that Obama is appealing to his "base."  The White, suburban, independent who is slightly to the "left" of "Bush's Base?"  The don't tax me, status quo voter with a few dollars to donate to the Party or a nice McMansion with which to host local fund raisers?

Yep, one more example of Black Sheeple getting f***ked in their sleep.  lol

RE: Enforcement of the Fourteenth (14th) Amendment to
                        The United States Constitution

Dear Mr. Obama:

Every American citizen is obligated to respect and enforce the constitution and laws of this nation, some more than others.  This obligation is greater with career, constitutional lawyers and buck-passing stops with the Commander-in-Chief of the United States of America.

Leon E. Lofton Jr. (01-16-18 to 07-16-03) an honorably discharged, disabled American combat infantry veteran of a foreign war (WWII) was discharged September 25, 1945 into a society as cruel as the one from which he was drafted November 14, 1942, a fact proven by the complete and exact copy of an enclosed court document titled JOINT PRETRIAL STATEMENT, NO. 895 188: Leon E. Lofton Jr. and Esther M. Lofton vs. School Board, Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) Superior Court of the State of California for the County of Los Angeles.

Even though the cited matter has been an already agreed upon matter since January 23, 1967, it still pends due to massive affinity fraud in every American institution from sea to shining sea.

Final judgment and order in case 895188 authored by the Plaintiffs pursuant to Amendment X, USC signed between November 22, 1975 and February 21, 1976 pursuant to ARTICLE VI, Section 19, CC.  by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of California, the Honorable Donald R. Wright who as Presiding Judge of the Superior Court of Los Angeles was the last judge of court of record.  Final judgment and order (case 895 188) is in the custody of and/or under the control of John A. Clarke, Executive Officer/ Clerk of the Los Angeles Superior Court.

Affinity fraud in every institution is further substantiated by a copy of the enclosed booklet authored and self -published in 2001 by plaintiff Esther M. Lofton titled Theft by Court and case #BC 385 899: Michael L. Lofton v. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa documenting the fact that the Plaintiff, a 30-year employee of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) has been on NO SHIFT/NO PAY (NS/NP) since October 17, 2007 in the absence of cause.

Despite your sermon condemning black males in an apostolic church in Chicago, IL on Fathers’ Day 2008 Leon E. Lofton, Jr., his son Michael L. Lofton and Carl A. Steadman, Jr. are all black males, all descendants of slaves and all citizens of the United States of America.

The DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE adopted by the United States Congress July 4, 1776 provides that when institutions of the people fail to secure the inalienable rights becoming destructive to that end, it is the right, it is the duty of the people to alter or destroy that form and to institute new government laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form as to them seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness.

Execution/enforcement of the judgment and order case # 895 188 by Constitutional lawyer Barack Obama or President of the United States Barack Obama satisfies the 14th Amendment to the United States Constitution and provides the means of the dictates of the Declaration of Independence.
Sincerely,

Esther M. Lofton, Plaintiff and Author

Theft by Court details how an innocent Black man, specifically Carl Steadman, is involved in a minor traffic accident, to where Carl Steadman is the victim, victimized by another driver cited for illegal backing, as documented by the actual traffic collision report 1998080109 and Vehicle Code 22106.  The female perpetrator leaves the scene of the accident, to commit felony hit and run, both the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the California Highway Patrol,  Culver City Court, and former Inglewood Municipal Court, are fully aware of  Carl Steadman's innocence, yet blatant fraud on the part of government and the Los Angeles County Court system frees a felony hit and run driver, and illegally and unwarrantedly convicts, jails and fines, Carl Steadman, of battery, reckless driving, driving with a suspended license,  etc. (Inglewood Municipal Court Case #8IW7573)

………and President Barack Obama , and/or other elected leaders affiliated with the Democratic Party, have yet to use his, her, and/or their position of influence to protect the U.S. Constitutional rights of law abiding U.S. Veterans,  specifically U.S. born Black men, women, their siblings, and/or others truly entitled to mandated Constitutional protections, truly violated by the atrocities of a government seriously gone awry.

‘Glitch’ could cut jobless benefits for a million

Congress must act before Christmas for extended subsidy to take effectAbout one million laid-off workers will see their unemployment benefits end in January unless Congress acts quickly to renew existing federally paid extensions, according to a new report and legislators and state officials.

"But many legislators, state aid officials and struggling workers apparently failed to read the fine print. The added federal benefits, built on a series of previous extensions, are slated to end on Dec. 31; it was assumed that Congress would vote to prolong those programs. While discussions have started, Congress is not yet considering a specific proposal. And unless it acts before the Christmas break, officials warn, the extensions will end, leaving large numbers of workers with no coverage. If Congress, now caught up with the health care overhaul, delays action until next year, millions would still face painful gaps in aid."

In case you are in need of a bullshit filter....

check out the World Socialist Website, they almost always get it right when it comes to the bullshit antenna and reading the tea leaves.  Read em and weep fellow plebes.  It appears that all talk of a stimulus will be dressed down as tax cuts and similar Reaganesque Bullshit.

wsw:  As US debt tops $12 trillion, Obama calls for austerity

http://www.wsws.org/articles/2009/nov2009/defi-n19.shtml
"In a separate interview with NBC News, Obama defended his policy when asked whether he should have acted sooner on jobs, asserting that his administration’s policies had been designed “to make sure we didn’t slip into a Great Depression.”

Obama went on to qualify his boast about economic recovery, acknowledging that “people are really hurting right now” because of the unemployment crisis. The only proposals that he raised for spurring employment growth, however, were providing corporations with a tax incentive to hire new workers and boosting US exports, which he cited as “an example of something we could do without spending money.”

The administration continues to rule out any direct job creation measures by the government itself.

Top officials in the Obama administration also stressed deficit reduction in a conference of CEOs held by the Wall Street Journal this week. White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel said that a plan for slashing federal deficits will be “a key component” of Obama’s annual State of the Union address in January. “It is foremost on his mind and the mind of his economic team,” he told the assembled corporate executives."

Hmmm,  M**th**r F****rs.

Obama has spent all of his political capital on Wall St. crooks, now we will be stuck with trickle down economics al la one of his favorite presidents, Ronald Ray gun.  Don't you worry, when unemployment remains at 10% or higher, the media won't report it, and we can all luxuriate in the pleasures of "reality tv" your favorite shows no doubt will be:

"Real Dickheads of Pennsylvania Avenue," and

"For the Love of Barry Obama,"  "Celestee,  "Are you here for the love of Obama?"  LOL

Or maybe we all need to go back to watching reruns of "Good Times" and "Archie Bunker."  It's gonna feel like that era real soon.  Government cheese will go swimmingly with saltines and a fine bottle of Strawberry Boones Farm or Richard's Wild Irish Rose (if no overtime that week).

Ba ba ba Baby You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet

I see over at Raw Story some of the "Libs" in the Dummocrat Party are thinking of axing Geithner and Summers and flat out accused them of putting Wall St. interests over Mainstreet ones.  Mmmm.

"I think there is a growing consensus in the [Democratic] caucus [that] we need a new economic team that cares more about jobs, Main Street and the American people than it does about Wall Street and huge bonuses," DeFazio (D-OR) told host Ed Schultz." (No shit, sherlock).

How about a friggen day late and a dollar short?  You should have never confirmed these Wall St. moles and Disaster Capitalists acolytes in the first place!  You should have lobbied for Joseph Stiglitz or someone similar who knew what the hell they were talking about, even Sheila Blair at FDIC would have been 100X better than Lil Timmy.

Or how about Nouriel Roubini who, from my readings and discernment, has been pretty much dead on from "day one."  Unfortunately, he doesn't have good news, looks like the economic "greenshoots" we heard about this summer are the results of Acid and PCP trips amongst the luminaries in the "science" of economics.

Roubini says otherwise,

The worst is yet to come: Unemployed Americans should hunker down for more job losses

Excerpt:

The long-term picture for workers and families is even worse than current job loss numbers alone would suggest. Now as a way of sharing the pain, many firms are telling their workers to cut hours, take furloughs and accept lower wages. Specifically, that fall in hours worked is equivalent to another 3 million full time jobs lost on top of the 7.5 million jobs formally lost.

This is very bad news but we must face facts. Many of the lost jobs are gone forever, including construction jobs, finance jobs and manufacturing jobs. Recent studies suggest that a quarter of U.S. jobs are fully out-sourceable over time to other countries.
Other measures tell the same ugly story: The average length of unemployment is at an all time high; the ratio of job applicants to vacancies is 6 to 1; initial claims are down but continued claims are very high and now millions of unemployed are resorting to the exceptional extended unemployment benefits programs and are staying in them longer."

Now, why is that Roubini can discern statistically what every living, breathing, thinking human being can discern in their "bones," with their eyes and ears w/o the beneift of a friggen econ course?  Interestingly, Roubini states that the "only solution" is another round of stimulus:

"There's really just one hope for our leaders to turn things around: a bold prescription that increases the fiscal stimulus with another round of labor-intensive, shovel-ready infrastructure projects, helps fiscally strapped state and local governments and provides a temporary tax credit to the private sector to hire more workers. Helping the unemployed just by extending unemployment benefits is necessary not sufficient; it leads to persistent unemployment rather than job creation."

Now, again, the question arises:  "Where is the political leadership and will to muster another stimulus package?"  Even Obama is now whining about the dangers of deficits, Democrats even boasting about how the fraudulent Health Care Bill will actually reduce deficits. (They won't admit to rationizing, they'll do it slick, like the latest "science" on mammograms, yeah..)  Moreover, even "Liberals" are trepidatious about deficits, and hyperinflation, and cheap dollars.   Given good ol American "individualism" it's safe to say "welcome to the world of austerity, the world of increasing haves and have-nots."

Let's face it folks, the United States of America is a victim of it's own greed, hollow intellectualism, inverted logic, moral depravity and cognitive dissonance, and thusly, "we are ass-out."   Watch as "modern day slavery" returns to the American workplace, sort of like what's happening to migrant workers in S. Flordia.  Put your gun on layaway for Xmas along side the generator, the wood not gas one.  LOL

akechlo, the truth hurts like hell, but is quite liberating in the end, kudos to you...

Obama made it possible for me to afford my COBRA payments

As a contractor, I am frequently in between jobs. Usually my monthly COBRA payment is over $300 for individual "health" coverage only. Fortunately, this year, due to the stimulus act signed into law by President Obama, my monthly COBRA payment for the same coverage level is now at $100. If it wasn't for the Obama subsidy, I would have declined COBRA coverage as I have done in the past. Not only am I able to afford to continue my health insurance this year, I also continued my dental. (For those of you not familiar with this part of the stimulus package, read here: http://www.dol.gov/ebsa/newsroom/fscobrapremiumreduction.html)
So here is a concrete example of a positive impact that Obama's leadership/presidency has had on my life. With that said, I will wait (but not for long) before I pass judgment on his ability to do something about the jobs situation.
If the jobs situation doesn't improve under Obama's watch, Obama will lose his democratic majorities in the senate and the house in 2010. And if that happens, he will certainly lose the White House in 2012 because the republican leaders will be so hell bent on making sure if goes down in history as a failed president. Given that known risk - one would assume that Obama has no choice but to act aggressively to improve the jobs situation (for which he doesn't have much time to act). The democrats can't win without the Black vote. And Blacks will not come out to vote in 2010 or 2012 if their economic situation doesn't improve.

Are Some of us giving a cover to potential assassins?

I understand some African Americans are not happy with Obama's  10 months' performance or people who are advising him, like Rahm Emmanuel and company.
However,  the intense criticisms seem to indicate strongly, that there are no diffrences between the criticisms from some blacks and the right wing fundamentalists, the fox news or people profiled by Rachel Maddow on 11/17/09:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26315908/ns/msnbc_tv-rachel_maddow_show#34004795
What will African Americans gain if these right wing nuts succeed in harming the President Obama? Could it be the most African elites feel more comfortable with the former "black president" Bill Clinton or his wife than they feel with Barack Obama? What exactly did non-elite African Americans gain during Clinton's eight years presidency? These right wingers are lethal!!

The Right Wing Don't need no goddamn help..

not when they have the Democratic Party and the so-called Liberal Media aiding and abetting them every step of the way.  Not when the left and right commentators refer to Obama's pivotal steps in office, particularly as it relates to the contrived WOT, as being in continuity with Bush.  Not when less than 25% of the public looks favorably on the GOP and yet, we witness Obama and his fellow Blue Dogs, and the phony Liberal Media making that marginal group appear to be some goddamn juggernaut of a political force notwithstanding the Democrat's Super Majority.

Don't you fret or worry your little self to bits, Obama will likely prevail in 2012 for no other reason that the GOP brand is dog poop, the deranged "base" won't permit them to host a viable candidate.  To answer your question, non-elite Blacks didn't earn jack shit during Clinton's years which raises the question, why is Obama's Cabinet and Executive Branches compromised of so many of them damn Clinton-retreads?

Update I:  Exhibit "A":

President Barack Obama has tapped a former top aide of his predecessor George W. Bush to a key post on a board overseeing government-sponsored international broadcasting, just a few weeks after she called his administration's behavior "unbecoming" with regards to the so-called "White House war with Fox News."

http://rawstory.com/2009/11/obama-names-bushs-spokeperson-broadcast-board/

"Who's giving cover now, to potential assassins?"  Aren't you tired of the mindf***k, the phony dichtomomy between Dummocrats and Repugs?

Update II:  Exhibit "B":  Here's Obama's and the Democrat's reward for their punk-ass "bipartisanship":

GOP Obstruction Goes Unnoticed—and Unpunished

http://www.truthdig.com/report/item/gop_obstruction_goes_unnoticed_--_an...

"Republicans are using the filibuster to stall action even on bills that most of them support. Remember: The rule is to keep Democrats from ever reaching the exit."

Punk-ass, bitch-ass Democrats capitulating to the big bad ol Rethugs, same shit as always.  Kissing their dino asses in the name of "bipartisanship" whiles these retards, not-so-closeted-racists, and monsters go obstructionist every goddamn opportunity they get.  (It's "WAR" baby!) Yet "liberals" want to dissect and pyschoanalysis, and sound "serious and sober" when explaining the cave-in.  F*** k that!!  Keep your excuses to yourselves, I ain't buying what you selling.

Dana Perino's Appoingment? What the HECK!

The appointment of this woman, Dana Perino, is the straw that has broken the camel's back! The presence of Hillary Clinton and Ram Emmanuel made my heart sink. But I had erroneously hoped that  Obama would not be taken for a ride.
You cannot surround yourself with the remnants of  two previous administrations and hope to succeed in making any changes. What these leftovers are doing is merely to ensure that Obama does not use his electoral edge to make any changes that would destabilized the choke hold the corporations have on  USA government domestic and foreign policies. They are  calling all the shots. The congress, the Whitehouse and the judiciary are working for them. The voters are merely fools with interests that do not mean anything to these wise guys!
The reason why Obama succeeded in ascending to the presidency and  the powers behind that ascent is  becoming crystal clear. The public must take cue from what is unraveling here!
I was shocked ( but not anymore) to learn that healthcare statements recently read by some members of Congress (democrats and republicans) were authored by the lobbyists from the pharmaceutical company, Genentech, and given to the congress staffers to be read as those Congress member views on healthcare! All statements were identical!
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/11/15/us/politics/15health.html
The Congress is owned by corporations. Electing these people is merely a facade the voting public is participating in using the wedge issues forced on them like abortion, homosexuality, gay marriages, and ethnic squabbles. These wedge issues do not put food on anybody's diner table!. The wedge issue are highlighted every election circles while predatory lenders wreak havoc on people's lives. Some claim they are put there by God Almighty while Tim Geithner, their guy, is running the financial show at the Whitehouse!

 I AGREE WITH YOU!

A new low

Whoah, Dana Perino? Even I'm suprised by that one. I guess the right wing strategy of trotting out these snow bunnies is working. Obama probably just wants to tap that ass.

Except for the wars and the

Except for the wars and the torture and the assassinations and extraordinary renditions and Guantanamo and Bagram and the tax cuts and the deficits and the coverups and the bailouts of rich bankers and ignoring Katrina victims and gay bashing and doing nothing about unemployment and letting millions of people lose their homes and coddling CEO's and propping up dictators and worse-than-nothing health insurance company bailouts, OBAMA IS AWESOME!

Homey done F***ked Up

I repeatedly told excuse-makers and Obamabots that the bankster bailout would be Obama's undoing if Afghanistan escalation didn't do him in first.  Right now the crisises are running neck to neck, with a slight edge going to joblessness and billions mis-spent on the bankster bailout.

The premise is simple:  Obama spent his political capital foolishly on the bankster bailout and all signs indicate little to no political appetite for another round of stimulus spending, though it is badly needed.  Needless to say, let's hope they design the next one, if it happens, better than the first.  Of course this f***ked up situation also lends itself to another simplistic thought of mind and that is:  American is incapable of solving her problems, we are bereft of critical, creative thinkers, mired in celebrity culture, crony-capitalism, our vaunted "individuality," all amounting to vapidness.  The chickens have come home to roost.  How do you "raise" an economy, create a sustainable one, that's built on ponzi wealth/schemes and consumerism, especially when joblessness or job anxieties are foremost on people's mind?

I ain't never liked Xmas's consumerism and I'll be damned if I ain't got a handy excuse now to be the Grinch I always wanted to be. LOL

What do we produce in this country besides video games, Sarah Palins, and reality stars?  We are besotted with a corruption of ideas and spirit.

The pundits are already speculating we need another stimulus and they are skeptical of the jobs creation by the present one.  I see a political stalement on the horizon, where the needs of the populace will go unmet by increased austerity and privitization of public goods, a need for more deficit spending but absolutely no will or political capital to get it done.

Homey done f**ked up, and now we all ass out.

Did anyone read Jesse's

Did anyone read Jesse's "Where is the Jobs Stimulus?" article on November 11 Counterpunch?  The man went the entire article without mentioning the Obama administration by name.  He just said the federal government must act, yada, yada.   Just the type of tepid hand wringing we can expect from his civil and labor rights brethren at Obama's December photo op.

If there's one thing Obama gets an A+ for, it is being an ace at giving the impression he "feels the pain" of the citizenry and is hard at work trying to find solutions to the problem.   Such is easy to do with a "free" press that practices more propaganda peddling than actual journalism, and, with advocacy groups that only come out of the woodwork with pitchforks to slay anyone caught in a politically incorrect word or deed.  If these folks were heading up the civil  and labor rights movement way back when, we'd still be sitting in the back of the bus and working 18 hour days.

Commenter Gary White writes that it takes time to get things accomplished.  Yes it does.  However, in order to get things done, one must make a credible start - something this administration only "gives the impression" it has done.  It sure didn't take much time for the BushBama regimes to get the banksters back up and running.   Why must it take forever and a day for the administration to implement a credible jobs creation program?  It took less than a year for LBJ to get a majority of seniors hooked up with Medicare.  Why do Obama and Democratic power players fight so against any serious discussion of Medicare for All and prefer to enact some boondoggle healthcare "deform" plan based on a Massachusetts model that has proven to be a disaster?  ObamaCo could have Medicare for All up and running within a year - and still keep the insurance industry in business allowing them to offer supplemental coverages such as long term care, home care, and accidental death/dismemberment.

That "things take time" line won't fly.  The govt always finds the time and money and whatever else is needed to do what it wants to do.  Bettering the lives of the average citizen just isn't high on its priority list - especially since enough of these citizens will elect and re-elect the same backstabbing good for nothings again and again.

"Give him time."  "Bush left a mess for him to undo."  "You know he can only go so far as the white folks let him."  The excuses for Obama's actions and inactions get lamer by the day.  How much time do we give this joker, ESPECIALLY, when since from day one he's shown little to indicate he will buck the neocon/neoliberal, bankster, warmongering, big business rules/people suck philosophy that guides this nation?   From a cabinet full of labor haters, warmongers, and related scoundrels to a Justice Dept and CIA blissfully continuing to trample constitutional and human rights - just how much more time is needed to see that we have been played big time???

Let us assume that the

Let us assume that the authors of these articles have bones to pick with Jesse Jackson or Donald Payne, the Congress man from New Jersey
Having said that, why are our so called "leaders" willing to participate in events in which they are roasted alive after providing "plausible deniability" to power brokers whose actions result in  either the killing, displacement or lockup of people these African elites should be protecting?

This article was very interesting. It seems that everyone wants instant gratification and wants to see results and change right now, right away! but the reality is, it takes time to devise a good plan that won't require and more money from the government. Although the livelihood of Americans is on the line and jobs are a necessity to survive, a short term fix isn't goingt to help anybody.

Disaster Demopublicans

Did anyone except fools think an obama administration would do anything for working people? As for his record on black american interests; let's just say I haven't seen a president do less for black folks since strom thurmond. Even he sent child support payments to his housekeeper.
No, the only purpose of the obama administration is to make neoliberal disaster capitalism's depredations palatable to gullible libruls and race "solidarity" black dummies.
Still and all, he'll do fine as the custodian for latter-day austerity capitalism in the homeland, or as the fall guy if the masses get too excitable, whatever, there's plenty more where he came from.
To the Newly Quiet Obamabots: I hope yours is the next job eliminated. Mine already was. Oddly enough, by a bunch of fradulent Obama-booster middle class hypocrites.
