The election of a black president has given the fashionable fantasy of North American color blindness body and wings. Ostensibly colorblind policies, argues Tim Wise, actually work to widen the persistent gaps between black and white America. You can't pursue racial justice without confronting the everyday reality of race. Since race and racism are constructs imposed by whites on the rest of humanity, only privileged whites can afford the pretense of colorblindness. Solving the nation's persistent problems will mean giving up this pretense.
African scholar Mahmood Mamdani challenges the fabricated
stats and fraudelent history popularized by the Save Darfur Coalition and the advocates of robust U.S. military intervention in Sudan. The Save Darfur Coalition, he argues is not a peace movement but a war dance, blocking a peaceful settlement by spreading falsified casualty figures, groundless charges of genocide, and offering the U.S. public an appealing but misleading case for military intervention.
The year that saw an African American run for the presidency as a viable contender also witnessed a truly remarkable silence. While millions of words written about the political ascent of one black man, there was virtually nothing about the descent of black leadership into well-nigh total ineffectiveness. Barack Obama’s personal itinerary was mapped in the minutest detail. The larger itinerary of African Americans was mostly ignored.

Americans are chemically dumbed-down
You never realize when you are chemically dumbed down because you are chemically dumbed down and Americans are. From super-strong weed, to alcohol, to fluoride in the water to chemicals in the air and food to prescription drugs. Americans are no longer mentally capable of saving themselves. Game over for us.
The bankers who also own Hollywood know exactly what they are doing. They've been doing this for hundreds of years. England wants its country back. Apparently Americans think evil only comes in dark colors. This is the same as always......tribal warfare between ethnic European Jews who converted to Judaism and Anglo Saxons. The rest of us are just caught in between.
I am wondering the same thing
Where is the outrage? Why have we allowed ourselves to be boondoggled for decades... Schools are in shambles, the economy only works for a very small percentage of people and the MSM has figured out how to get us to fight among ourselves to deflect the anger from where it really ought to be directed. I am waiting for the right leader to come along... I thought it was Obama but I am sadly disappointed. Aimlow Joe - http://www.aimlow.com
How did you miss this?
The Tea Party is fighting plenty hard to claim America for conservatives. Rallies, calls, letters, signs, learning the system, choosing candidates and proposals, we're deep into the fight and teaching our kids to continue after us. Maybe your community is still sleeping but we're gaining ground every day.
I am confused about how you expect a government of any kind to lift people of a particular race out of poverty. You talk about college-educated Blacks having higher unemployment than college-educated whites. What are their majors? Sociology and Psych degrees are useless and the minorities studies in colleges today are a total ripoff. Today's market of advantage is anything medicine related. Be a doctor or nurse or chemist. Energy and international trade are good too. Sciences and business are good education goals. There are only so many government jobs and, as you can see now, they're dependant on tax income from private industry. Remember, failing strategies result in failure.
Well at least there's the Tea
Well at least there's the Tea Partiers. Their motives may be suspect, but I give them credit for mobilizing and protesting.
Much in your article. One part of the problem,
could be that Americans (in the USA, not Americans to the south of the US border) have been propagandized for at least a century. I got a clue in Robert Caro's middle book bio of LBJ, "Master of the Senate". He touched on the massive amounts of money that had been spent over decades to convince people in the US that electricity should be privatized...even in the 1920s. If Americans are "ignorant", as M. Kimberly says, it is in part due to corporate media. On the BailOut: I wrote to my member of the House of Reps, saying "If you vote "Yes" on the BailOut Bill" (Fall, 2008), "I will never vote for you again.". Not my first letter to my Representative. Many said "Vote NO" and were ignored. Why don't people in the US protest more ?- (my marching days are physically over. I did some in the 1960s and a bit more, small cog things).
I have been thinking about that for a long time. Propaganda is very successful in the US: people have been told for decades "You can 'make it' if you ...." and the steady drumbeat that unions are no good (with the results we see). The successful propaganda:people have been propagandized into thinking that the rich are "good", and re the poor "it's their own fault" nonsense. One example of the total absurdity is the advertising Bloomberg was using in his election campaign in his 2nd election campaign: "Bloomberg cares for you", regular people. Is it lack of courage? I don't know; I'm only 7 0.

I am surprised that I made it to 7 0 - or 17 1/2 leap year birthdays.
